Default Raising/Jacking Z06 from the side

Is it ok to:
1. just lift one wheel off the ground from one of the jacking points?
2. use 2 floor jacks positoned at each jacking point on the side to raise the car positioning each floor jack and raising each floor jack a little at a time?

No problem lifting from one side jacking point. My C6 coupe and Z06 are stiff enough that if I jack from the rear side jack point (with lifting puck to keep floor jack from contacting the underside of the rocker panel), both front and rear tires come off the ground. I usually still move the jack to the front jacking point when working on the front wheel. I swap wheels and brake pads around pretty often, never had a problem. C3 Vetts had a problem cracking body panels when jacked from one point. My C4 was OK with one jack point, but the doors were best kept closed. C5 and C6 the frame is much stiffer.

Cheers - Jim (don't forget to use some type of spacer (puck) on the jacking point).

Place the jack between the jacking points where there is a reinforcement, approximately below the mirror. The whole side will lift up evenly. Place the jackstands at the jacking points. You can now lift the other side up and put the whole car on 4 jackstands. I've done this hundreds of times between my C4, C5 and C6 Vettes. Must make sure the jackstands are placed properly.

In this picture you can see strips of hard rubber that I cut and stacked to about 3/4" to nest in the center spot of the frame below the mirror as mentioned in a previous post from 383vett...

Anyone who waxes the underside of the rocker panels has to be cool. Way to go Scott.

I just use the front jacking point to lift both tires off the ground on that side. Makes it quick and easy to change tires at the track. Did this on the 97, 03 and now the 08Z.

I do this anytime I'm changing tires at the track. The jack sits on the frame. No need for a puck. But, then, I don't wax the underside.

Thanks for the pictures and the explanation, 3LZZ06. I was getting a little stressed trying to figure out how to do this. I got my new wheels on this afternoon without a hitch. Thanks, again!

Probably the same...

They were bought at Harbor Freight Tools, not sure if the name has changed but they're pretty generic and inexpensive.
