Broken exhaust valve leads to catastrophic failure .
Stans stock Z06 broke a valve and as you can see, turned a really nice engine into a pile ..
New engine coming soon .

First of all, glad to see you back!
You mentioned this was on a stock z06. Now, recently, there was a thread mentioning a motor that had a valve cap come loose, shred the motor, and the dealer/gm denied the claim.
Why was it denied? Had the warranty expired already?
No biggie though, I'm sure the owner is probably going to be happier with a nastier motor with those kick-*** heads of yours!
Have you looked into porting the 102mm ls7? Some have had ok results....

Yeah - it is a C6 Z06 and it dropped a sodium filled exhaust valve - not the first one we've seen, either and probably not the last - my advice is to either get to know your service department well or change the valves - cheap insurance.

I don't know about the lash cap failure but should have been covered - the stock exhust valves here are an issue and when they drop....
The 102 is a great manifold right out of the box & with a little twaeking and it responds even better.

I understand that It's more advantageous performance wise to get a motor built at RPM as opposed to having GM replace an engine with an engine that contains the same faulty parts.
Is this a case of GM not standing behind their warranty on a stock C6 Z06 with an engine failure due to faulty parts?

Man, I'm SOOOOOOO glad Richard at WCCH talked me into doing solid stainless valves on my first heads ( sold to Breathless for a customers car) and his Titanium ( delwest) valves on my current set. I'd be riding Titanium to work everyday if I lost another motor.
and my local buddy and engine builder thought I was for replacing the valves. It's like a game of roulette with those stock valves at 8K rpm.

The 7000 RPM redline claimed by GM for these motors is a joke. Based on my experience, the crap valves do not live above 6000 RPM for very long. As soon as my warranty is out, these heads are coming off to be built right.
