I have to admit that I was shocked!
I have been drag racing a fair amount, but not so much over the past five years or so. With nothing to say I haven't posted much. Last year I was diagnosed with liver cancer. So, I immediately sold old my '02 Z06 and bought a new '09 Z06. I have had a hard time getting to the track to see how it runs. I thought the car was pretty powerful but honestly had no idea how powerful. When I went to Cecil County back in June for the Vintage Thunder races (all Corvette) we discovered that the car was pinging, missing, and back firing. It was somewhat intermittent and certainly baffling. I took it to the dealer who decided after three trips that there was nothing wrong. So, I call GM, got a case number and took it to another dealer. After several trips to this dealer and a sincere effort, they found the problem. It was a loose ground wire on the left side between the coils and the engine. I still didn't really know how powerful it was since it spins the rear tires almost anytime on the street.
Then Ranger called about the track rental. I went last week and had real trouble launching and shifting the car. I was terribly out of practice. So, when he called about the rental this week, I thought I would give it a try. My times kept dropping with each pass. I ran quite a few 11.0x. I would have been happy with these times. It's better that I thought I could do. And then I ran the following.
60' 1.601
330 4.590
1/8 7.039
MPH 101.10
1000 9.119
1/4 10.896
MPH 125.71
My car is absolutely stock. I do have the CAGS bypass and I was running Mickey Thompson drag radials.
I have sent a copy of the slip to Ranger. He will post it soon.
For me it is a great Christmas present. I also foundd out this week that the cancer has been knocked on its ***, too. It has been a great week!

Congrats Steve! It was a joy to see you hook up on that 10 second run. It was like magic. After that incredible launch, we all knew it was going into the 10's.
I enjoyed myself being your pitcrew and driver. Many more to come!

Hey Steve, I'm so happy to hear everything is looking good with your health. Great times too, awesome 60ft on that OEM clutch. Hopefully I'll see you at the track sometime soon, I really haven't gone much in the last few years.

We were at MIR in Southern Maryland.
Launched at about 3500 RPM.
The DA, I'm told was -1300.
Hey, Billy, great to hear from you.
