Default GTO Spares for Skinnes for C6Z? Opinions Wanted

Has anyone ran GTO spare rim setup on a C6Z? Were there any issues with clearing the front brake calipers? Did you have to use spacers? Any feed back would be appreciated.

They're 17s, aren't they? I think it would be unlikely they would fit. (even if they're 18s, these are monstrous calipers and the spare is probably pretty skinny.)

Reference vid so you can see how it looks. They look odd, but they do work with base brakes.

Whats another inexpensive setup i already have 18x12 rear w/ 335 all i want is a set of front skinnies. I would love to get a set of cut down stock fronts.

So that skinny wheel setup on your CG Z06 is from where???? I would like a front skinny setup like that for when I hit the track but don't want to spend a ton of money on it. If a spare tire setup from another GM car will bolt to the front of a Z and clear the front brakes that would be the way to go.

They are GTO spares.

Two minor problems if you care regarding GTO specs: they are not 5x120.65 PCD, they are 5x120 mm, and they are not hubcentric for a Corvette. So I doubt if any engineer would approve.

I think CCW is around 500 a wheel for skinnies. Not really an inexpensive option out there.

ok, LG I'm a little confused. You said earlier the GTO spares don't clear the brakes then you say they clear the base brakes. Then you have a Z06 with those wheels on it in your video but the bolt pattern is just a tad smaller than a Z06 bolt pattern.

What are you referring to AFA "base" brakes??? Stock C6 Z06 brakes??? If the bolt pattern on those wheels are just a little bit smaller than a corvette bolt pattern how did you get those wheels on your CG Z06????

Please clarify.

If you can provide some pics of those spares on that Z06 it would be great. You don't see them for that long in that video and the viewing angle was also quite sharp.

I'm pretty sure LG is talking about base c6 brakes. I know of a few c6 guys that run the gto spares up front. I think the c6 z51 brakes are even a bit too big to run the gto spares.
As far as the bolt pattern goes, I have no idea. I figured it was the same...

The tires are only rated for a constant speed of 55mph, but plenty of people people swap them to m&h front runners if concerned. I've been running the stock spare tires for 3 years w/ over 100 passes at 120mph+ and they've even seen 130+ on my buddies juiced c5z. Gary2004z06 also runs them on his c6z with "base model" c6(ie non z51) brakes. The only other modification is the hub opening has to be ground ~1/8" bigger on the wheel, as goats have smaller diameter hubs.

same here, just ground the center to fit the c5, had the spares balanced and all is good to 125 mph blast no problem

That's great but they still won't fit a C6Z unless you swap the brakes, which is what the OP was asking.

I found a couple videos of this person running those spares on his Z06. He switched out the stock brakes to regular C6 calipers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9VpA...eature=related

Don't want to go this route now (I'm keeping my stock Z06 brakes). Gonna look into picking up 2 front C6 Z06 wheels from the boneyard (for dirt cheap) and maybe sending them out to weldcraft to get them narrowed for drag duties.
