Default stg 2 GTR aint no joke! 540rwhp zo6 vs stg 2 gtr

2006 lethal cam -540rwhp street tires
09 GTR-stage 2: HKS EXHAUST, hks mid-pipe, AAM downpipes,Cobb tune


we raced 5 times- rented lv motorspeedway today for some closed runs

race#1 : we both went from 10 mph-140 spun all thru 1st and 2nd and got crushd by 10 cars easy.-not really a race.
race#2 : from 50-55mph-140..pretty much dead even i might have been a 1/2 car ahead
race#3 : same results as race #2
race#4 ; wanted to race from 60 mph in my power band in 2nd.
gtr in bottom of 3rd..about 1 car ahead by 140
race#5 : gtr wanted to go from 45 in his powerband and out of mine in 2nd went from 45-140. GTR won by 2 cars

i have run my z at the track a handful of times and have a best street tire time of 11.4@128 with a 2.0 60ft

not the result i was looking for. i thought it would not be a race from 60mph. thought i would have him by 5 or so by 160.

much respect for the gtr, but definately will have a rematch soon with video.

For the GTR haters you have to remember the Stage 2 kit is 6K or 10K installed and tuned depending where you go, so it's not that much more than a H/C package installed on a Z06. The cars are so much faster then there weight belies and with 700awhp bolt on cars coming soon they are only getting faster......that cost some coin though.

race#4 ; he wanted to race from 60 mph hes power band at full force me in bottom of 3rd.. so a little lag... again same results dead even!
race#5 : i told him i want to race from 45 mph ( i felt the gTRs power band).. we went from 45-150.. GTR won by 2-3 cars


We have the crappy video from the first race .. the rest were not filmed as it was complicated and last minute..

Surprising you didnt get the 5-10 cars on him. We've raced one of those cars, with 600 rwhp, the race was from about 50 and by end of 4th the GTR was way way back, much more than 10. i dont know if he let off, but after we got back to chat, he wasnt a happy camper at all. The Z had a cam and heads and the normal add ons.

Im sorry..... stage 2 GTR is in the mid to maybe a high 120mph range... how is he hanging with your where you should be well into 130mph's with that power? Especially with him putting down 515awhp? BS!

Honestly, A stage 2 is a good race for a STOCK Z06... 608awhp with a hks570 inthe 132mph range is about 2 cars ahead of a stock+intake Z06... So, again, these results makes so, either your car is not running right that day or he is lying about his mods... STILL, he is going to need over 600awhp to hang with you like that.

So, not knocking on your car, but this doesn't make sense... you SHOULD of rocked that GTR no problem ever single time.

So upgraded turbo's are considered a bolt on now? A stage 2 DOESN'T hang with a H/C c6 Z06. It is going to need 600awhp+ trapping low to mid 130mph's to hang.

Was that Bing in the GT-R? he is the only one that I know personally of with a stage-2 GT-R. Great time though

Hi A

I agree with you on the stage 2 GT-R which a H/C Z06 should rock. A GT-R with a HKS 570 or 600 kit would be a good match up for sure and the results would more than likely end up being driver mod, the Z being able to hook up, power band from a roll etc etc. Kind of like the results of this run by the OP.

I do have to say that the simple upgrade on a stock turbo is to me a bolt on. It is a very simple mod. All they do is take out the stockers and put a bigger wheel etc. Not much and you know what my GT-R has done on this upgrade. We did a simple run between my C/H Z06 and my GT-R from a 30mph roll to 130. It wasn't even close even though I got the jump driving the Z. The GT-R just walked away which shocked me to be honest. My Z has run a 11.1@129.70mph on RF's BTW.

I have raced bout 4 r35's al dynoes between 590-610awhp frm bteween 30-40km upto 200km and have about a car on them every time.
BTW what tyres u runnin if stock get invos ASAP

The results for this race makes no sense. Look at the facts taking drivers and everything else out of the equation:

C6Z has roughly 30 more rwhp and 800lbs lighter......... how are they even close from a roll race!


In addition to that a buddy of mine has a turbo NSX (410rwhp) and raced a local GTR making a hair over 500whp. With the NSX limited in traction from a 20mph roll race the GTR was only able to get ahead 1-1.5 cars. The video is actually on YouTube so I will link later.

My vette vs my buddies NSX is not even funny from a roll.

There really is no way this 510whp GTR mentioned by the OP should even hang with a mid 500hp range C6Z.


Turbos are a bolt on mod as well. If the car is turbo from the factory then turbo upgrades are considered bolt on.

Secound race the p700 r35 pulls like 5 cars on the zr1.

Now the p800 with 100hp more
First race gives a fender.
Secound race zr1 with passenger get 5-7 cars.

What they do is pull out the stock turbos and then send them out to replace the center section. The exhaust side of the turbo is untouched. They then just bolt right back on the car so that is why they are considered a blot on upgrade. Since this upgrade is similarly priced to the HKS 570 kit I don't understand why more people don't do it since it make a lot more power.

Take those Russian vids with a grain of salt. Most of the GT-R guys do. Most believe they were done more for PR purposes for a few shops and their cars.

Numbers don't add up.

BTW my GT-R is running in the Texas Mile this week on stock rubber and should give a good idea of what this bolt on modification yelds MPH wise in a distance run as opposed to to qtr mile times.
