Shift MPH at readline for each gear
What are the MPH for each gear at redline? I did many many searches and could only find bits and pieces.
My guess:
1st 65
2nd 95
3rd 125
4th 165
5th 200

I think you were a little high but close. I'm pretty sure I'm correct. This has been asked before and I think this is what I saw.

Here is the graph with stock ratios and stock size tires. The small graph shows the rpm drop for each shift. Obviously the car won't do what it shows in 5th or 6th gear, those gears are WAAAAYYYY too tall (I didn't bother to plot the theoretical 325mph in 6th). These are theoretical speeds only - the combination of available power/gearing/rpm/aero drag kills it in 5th, let alone 6th;
By the way, you would need approximately 629 RWHP in order to hit 219mph at redline in 5th gear (based on the Z's frontal area, coefficient of drag, and an approximation for rolling resistance). Just to show you how much HP is required to gain EVEN ONE more mph to go from 219 to 220mph, you would need 637 RWHP...

If you're running a tire with a different diameter (different revolutions per mile) than the OE tires, then you might have a different speed at different RPMs than somebody with a completely stock set up.

Fantastic!!!
Do you happen to have a link of where I might find such formula's?
Also, since from the 1-2 to 3-4 shifts the rpm drops are decreasing, I wonder how much punchier 5th would be if you kept on with that and had, let say, 1588rpm drop from the 4-5?
I was doing a bit of calculations the other night and found, that if you were willing to lose mph over 200mph, you could go with a .81 fifth gear and you would get to about 199mph by 7000rpms. In turn, the car would boogie smooth in 5th!! So, you lose mph over 200 but you would get to 200mph in a dam hurry and in this part of the planet... accelerating for a few seconds past 164mph to 190mph to prove a point is much safer than hitting over 200mph.
Of course, you could always do a .79 and hit over 200mph in damn hurry as well when compared to our sluggish stock 5th.

I have a stock 2007 Z and I redline 3rd in the 1/4 mi. right before finish line. I have to shift to 4th and my trap speed is between 122-123 mph. My shift point is 7000 rpm. I have never hit the rev. limiter. Should I try to push it all the way thru? I know the rev. limiter does not kick in until 7100, but I would not like to hit limiter. Especially on purpose.
I might add that I am a beginner with only about 8 1/4 mi. passes. Just trying to learn and understand these numbers.
I have also watched the drivers' videos with the best times (low 11's and hi 10's bone stock) always shift before the finish line. Of course their trap speeds are between 125-129.

[QUOTE=BillyT C6Z;1571584398]So after reading my posts, do you think I should try to push it past 7000 in the 1/4?
I'm around 121 @ 7000.[/QUOTE It was Build in 07/2007 The TR 6060 will only go to 116 mph
Now you know why I could go there third gear . I don't have the 08 trans
Ole But this could be good
My '08 Z06 is now sitting at the dealership waiting for tranny parts. GM is going to warranty the work, but took them a couple of days of negotiation to agree to this. They said tranny broke from me driving too hard. Not true. 5,000 miles on the car. Sometimes the gears would grind going into reverse. Embarrassing to grind gears in an expensive car. People are thinking I have an expensive sports car but I don't even know how to shift gears. Plus, it would not go into 5th when trying to shift above 5,500 rpm. I brought it to the dealership a couple of months ago and dealership said they couldn't duplicate the problem. I'm sure they tried their best. The problems remained and slowly got worse until it would no longer go into reverse at all. I am now relieved that it broke to a point where GM cannot deny there is a problem. I had been driving it for two months waiting for this day to come. Dealership tried to get me to admit that I race the car at the track, which I don't. I have one mod on the car, Hoosier R6 tires, which they assumed means I race the car. Our driving season up here in Canada is only about 4 months long, which is about how long these tires will last if you don't track the car. I need new tires every year, but man does this car ever corner nice with these tires. The stock tires really hold this car back. The dealer also complained that "What are you doing driving so fast that you are shifting into 5th gear at 5,500 rpm?". I didn't buy this car to just stare at it in my garage. I open it up once in a while and appreciate it's abilities. Some day I plan to start tracking this car a few times a year and doing some mods to it like R6 tires, big brake kit, and cam, but not until I am sure that all the stock parts are in good working order while it is still under warranty.
