Default What is the difference between 06 & 07 Z06 rims?

Is there a difference between the 06 & 07 rims, the 07 are manufactured by Speedline, what about the 06's?

06 rims were manufactured by Amcast which is made in the USA. In late 06, Amcast went under, and Speedline Italy took over manufacturing of Z06 wheels again. (They made Z wheels for a year or two for the C5 Z06s.) Speedlines are the ones that seem to be more sought after....rumor has it that the Speedlines are actually a lighter than the Amcast built wheels. Speedline do make high quality racing wheels as a manufacturer. And they are made in "Italy" which is cool.

To my knowledge, Speedline made the Z06 wheels only for the 01 Z06. Those wheels were the only OEM forged wheels during the entire C5Z06 generation. Early in the MY2001 production, Speedline could not keep up with demand at BG. My car's production was delayed 5 weeks due to that issue. GM chose to go to another mfr and to the centrifugal spin cast method for the Z06 wheels for MY2002 which continued right into the current C6 Z06 generation. I remember Amcast going bankrupt so I think you are correct that Speedline is once again the supplier. I assume the wheels are still centrifugal spin cast. Maybe not.

My 2002 Z06 had Spun Cast Speedline wheels and all the other 02-04 Z06's that I have ever seen (thier wheels) had Speedlines.

Speedline made most of the C5 wheels whether they were Z06 or regular C5s.

FYI 01 Z wheels were made by Alcoa and were forged. 02-04's were made by speedline and were spun cast.
