What is the best Battery for a 2006 Z06
Since my car has been siting over the last four weeks the battery went bad. I took the battery out of the car and had Auto zone test it. Their conclusion was that it didn't hold a charge. The battery has a 6 year warranty but I cant find anyone that will exchange it for me. The dealer said they would have to see the car if they were to give me credit. Funny how would I get my car their if I don't have a battery.
I need to replace it so where is the best place to buy a new battery.

There is not much of a choice in batteries for a Z06. As you know, the battery is in the rear and is vented to the outside of the car. My Mercedes also has the battery in the rear and is vented to the outside. I was able to find a repalcement battery for it at AutoZone, but I don't believe they have a battery for our beloved Z06's.
here is how one owner solved this problem. http://xse.com/leres/z06/battery.html
I replaced the OEM battery in my 98 C5 when it was two years old, with an Optima. When I traded the car for a 09Z06 the Optima battery was still going strong, a little over eight years old.

I was planing to replace my OEM battery with an Auto-Zone(Johnson Controls) series 47 next spring, when mine will be 4 years old. Funny my Delco still check's out like new on a Midtronics tester, but just think it's time. I'm sure my CTEK 3300 charger helped keep thing's going. Didn't know about the the hold down bar, but if Auto-Zone know's what to sell me for $5 buck's, guess I'm covered.

Odyssey PC1200MJT. Try batteryweb.com.
Excellent battery and I've had no issues thus far. IMO it's a higher quality battery than an Optima. I had an Optima Redtop in my C5 Z06 and it was worse than my oem.
It's a little smaller than the oem battery as well so it will fit easier.

Still have the OE battery in my '07. It's over 2 years old with no issues so far. With all my problems with a certain wheel co. in Miami, the car has sat more than it has rolled, so the battery has definately been put to the test.

I had an Odyssey PC680 on my acura and the thing still worked after 3 years
and even started the car in sub zero temps every time. Its a dry cell battery so you have many ways to mount it and it will outlast a regular battery by quite a few years.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I took the OEM battery to a small shop near my house that distributes AC Delco parts and the service manager is going to order me a free replacement. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.
Thsnks again.

And for those that were curious, my battery sat idle for 3 weeks and it has no charge at all. Nor will it hold a charge. Bad battery all around I guess.
