Porting LS7 Heads Recommendation
hey guys need a recommendation where to port my LS7 heads? a friend of mine told me to do them with dallas performance because they upgrade the valves so there is a less chance of the valve dropping but plz feel free am open for suggestions and where did you guys port your heads and how much will it coast me

i gained 25whp from porting my ls7 heads, but not sure if the cost was worth the gain... $1100 for porting, $750 labor, $150 for gaskets/fluids/plugs, $300 for retune = $2300 for 25whp.
yes, I enjoy my 25 extra ponies, but I would have rather applied that $ towards a forged bottom end or a power adder.

I bought mine from LG motorsports. Car made anywhere from 590-605rwhp with a medium sized cam. No before/after dyno but I would guess close to 40rwhp because of the heads.

Dallas Performance works on my Ford. They do great work but I'm not sure how much work Taylor has done with the LS7 heads. He focuses on doing procharger kits for C6s. Have you called him and talked to him about it?

Most LS7 head upgrades include what you mention above.

Richard at WCCH (www.proheads.com) did mine, and he's going to be working on them again when I take them off a second time to be milled.

If you just want a valve job and to get them milled, it should cost under $500.
All "ported heads" are not the same so if you are just worried about dropping a valve, just get a valve job done. Any one of the vendors can probably do that for you.

The thing that you are not hearing form anyone is that the majority of the gains that come from head work, come from milling. You can get that done at a local shop for $100-200. I picked up over 25 whp from milling alone, no porting, and with gaskets and all, had less than $350 in the mod.

A valve job is when multiple angles are cut on the valve seat area to improve flow and a proper seal, a valve upgrade is what you want if you are worried about a dropped valve. I don't think the intake valves need to be upgraded, but the hollow stemmed exhaust do. Check into Ferrea valves and the Comp dual spring kit.
