Default Headers with Stock Mufflers??

Anyone running this setup that has sound clips?? Trying to figure out which mufflers to do with my headers (either LG or Kooks). Have heard sound doesn't change much with Corsa over stock with fuse removed... True?
Thanks guys,
Evan

Search for DSteck on YouTube. There's a few clips of my car. LGs, no cats, stock mufflers.

I'm running Kooks LT's, hi-flow cats, X-pipe with stock (modded) mufflers. Love the sound...

Before I did the muffler mod I went to the track (road course) to listen to a friend run. Awesome sound, he just has a cam and modded mufflers. I heard another Z06 on the track that sounded identical (140+ MPH passes). I found him after the session was over and he had Corsa's.

I am running the LG pro headers with LG HFC and stock mufflers with the valves open(remote switch). I like the fact that I can make it quiet or loud which is a total plus when you are driving on the HWY. The reason why I haven't done a cat back is because it is a hit or miss as far is drone. You might love it or hate it. I am sure the cat backs sound sweet but they also come with drone.

Do the headers first and see how you like the sound with the stock mufflers. I honestly did not gain much out of the headers but I guess it is a good mod if I decide to go with a cam again.

I guess I didn't have the right search parameters before because this thread matches my query.

Kooks 1 7/8" headers + offroad x pipe with stock mufflers (non-modded) baffles closed = how much louder over stock? Baffles open is a don't care because I'm sure it will sound awesome.

Anyone with a similar setup have sound clips? I'll go see if I can find that clip of the LG headers with offroad pipes.

Thanks.

I put Kooks headers on my car a year ago and wished I had not. The dealer went broke and Kooks will not respond to my problems. It has thrown the O2 sensor codes and melted the harnesses.
Stick with the stock manifolds and get a good tune.
I know I will get a lot of flack from the header fans, but you are welcome to buy mine at 50% of retail.
Kooks overheat the sensors. Some never have a problem, but dont count on Kooks to help if you have problems.
I have had to turn off the sensors just to pass emissions.

Can you PM me more specific details? Did you have the car tuned? I know without a tune, it will throw a code because of the lack of rear sensors. But melting the harness, that I would like to know more about. Was that installer failure, or Kooks headers? If the Kooks can do this, I would think any stainless steel header could.

EDIT: Nevermind the PM. I found your install thread.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I figured that the stock mufflers with the fuse out would sound pretty close to any muffler out there, but wanted to confirm!

Ruben, what are you doing driving a vette?? HAHA, this one is my father's, I have a 750HP BMW M3 The Z06 is a great car tho man, I love driving it!

Z06pack This is the first time I am hearing of your problems. If you would simply just call us toll free at 1 866 586 KOOK. I will do all I can to rectify your problem. If the harness burnt that generally means they where not tied up away from the header. Who did the install so we can get this handled for you. I am also curious about your statement that Kooks overheat the sensor. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience. Thanks George R.

Probably not installed right. Best overall solution is to get your kooks headers jethot ceramic coated. reduces external temps around 200 degrees I believe. Not to mention keeps heat down in the engine bay.
