Default Nitto NT-05 Review

So I got the tires on the car last week when it was 30 degrees out. First impression was good. They rode smooth, and got almost better grip in 30 degree weather than my GY's ever did in the dead heat of summer.

Fast forward to today when it was 65 out and holy hell do these things stick like no other! I have slightly over 520 RWHP and these things grip and the front end lifts up like it never did before! It holds first gear better than I could have imagined, and it holds second flawlessly. Cornering is VERY stable and it holds strong. I was able to take a common 90 degree turn I go through each time I drive much quicker than I ever could with the GY's. This car is a totally new beast, and I found a new level of appreciation for it.

As for ride comfort they feel 10x's smoother than the GY's so I am very happy all around. I cannot wait to get this to the track! I am willing to bet these things will easily get me my 10 second slip. Only downside is that they do smell like horse crap and rubber for the first week... but it has been fading away. I am 150% satisfied with their performance and for the price I can't see how they can ever be beat.

BTW, I have the 275's in front.

Thanks! These things stick like glue... I'm actually quite amazed and didn't expect this good of grip.

I'm on my Invo's as well - I will more than likely switch to these as well when my Invos' burn out due to their size being closer to the stock sizes.

Not that there is anything wrong with 345/35/19.... but i'd rather be matched than not.

Thanks for the report. It seems from your experience that they NT-05 tires turn in as quickly as the Goodyears. I presume they have stiffer sidewalls than the Invos?

Sounds to good to be true, honestly

They stick better, quieter, better ride, and handle just as well or better?

Something has to give somewhere, but thanks for the review.

Why the 275 front? I thought the 285 front was the better match for the 335 rear?

Personally i think if u go 285 the car looks funny because of the big sidewall of the 35 if it was a 285/30 it would look killer..

How would you compare the sidewall stiffness compared to the GY's?
I had once tried MPS's & they felt like mush compared to the GY's on my 03 C5Z...

How much bigger could the sidewall be??

Wouldn't it just fill up the wheel well a little more???

Can you explain or show some photos

Not true, the 285 is a better match for the 335 and you will not notice the sidewall difference at all.
