All I know is it cured the problem I had
Explain this to me more sounds interesting because my noise is about the same spot but Im totally lost in your description.

Default ***update***

I went under the car and found no problems. I sprayed some WD-40 on the flap mechanism. This made it a lot better. If it stays this way I guess I can deal with it....It's almost undetectable.

Ron

**EDIT**
As of today, 3/23 the noise is gone. Seems the WD-40 did the trick!

Good info. My '06 does the same thing, but only after I modded the mufflers. I will have to spray some lube on them I guess.

Same here. I was certain it was the springs since I could see where the vinyl wore away but im willing to try this too just for the hell of it

I've got a 150 mile '08 that I think is doing the same thing. It is almost a groaning or mooing sound at about 2700 RPM coming from the right rear. I'll try lubing the damper. Never thought about that. The car has been sitting for almost a year.

Default noise

i was under my car to remove my z06 setup and noticed that the muffler was hitting the stablizer bar on the outside bottom edge..it seems that the Z06 muffler is heavier than the stock system and pulls down on the rear rubber mounts.. check yours you dont have to lift the car to see it. i have a very small dent but enough to bump it on cornering while hitting an uneven surface.. not often but you can hear it...

Beware these cold temps have been keeping the cars cold. You really have to give it a couple of good runs to get it good and hot before it starts making the noise. Dont be fooled if it seems gone. May just not be hot enough. Atleast for me.

More trouble shooting today with a 6 channel radio. Got excessive noise when attached to the subframe bolts in the rear and also left hand muffler hanger. More to follow........next week when I replace a few parts to try and narrow it down.

Mine does it too. 12k 2008. Usually around 3k RPM, goes away right below, and right after. As someone said before, tinny, "RICER" sound. Will try WD-40 on flaps.

So the sound came back... SOMEWHAT....Not everyday. It's too weird. It is absolutely a lot LESS though since I did the WD-40 though.
I don't see anything the mufflers could be touching, so I don't know what else it could be. It truely sounds like the right muffler from the driver's seat....a head scratcher for sure.

it has to do with heat. I have the same issue I can pretty much make it not happen. Run the car up to temp and make 2 or 3 full throttle passes in 2cnd or third and it heats right up and noise returns full force. On a cold day I can still get it heated up but takes longer and as soon as I start driving easy it cools down real quick and noise goes away. the magic rpm is right about 2500 to 2700 rpms. Im diligently working away on a solution and spending ALOT of time and money to solve it. I will update as I confirm more. I will find a solution one way or another.

I hear you, but it's NOT happened on days where I was driving for 40 minutes straight...

Anxiously awaiting any findings you come across.

Well see but thats what I am saying I can drive 40 miles stright too and it wont happen. The way it would happen is if I would drop a gear and wind it up a coulple of times on full throttle. Otherwise just crusing in 5th on the highway for about 5 minutes will cool it right down to the point the noise almost stops. Ill let you know what I find. Can you take a picture of your rear mufflers and rear hangers looking from the ground up. I need to see if mine are properly on the hangers and also my mufflers arent lined up with eachother slightly although theres no marks anywhere of rubbing I want to see.

No sounds from my 08Z.

But my 09Z made this resonance pulling right out of the dealership when new. I have a about 1000 miles and no change.

Hot, cold, gear, MPH, NPP fuse in or out makes no difference.

The resonance starts about 2600 RPM and stops about 3200 RPM.

In my car the resonance seems to be coming somewhere between right below the drivers seat and the rear tires.

A passenger in my car asked if I had a SC installed when they heard the sound ...

That sounds exactly what I am hearing in my '09 Z. Except, mine only does it when warmed up, not cold.

Sounds like we're developing the 1st 2009 Z06 T.S.B.!!!

My digital camera is m.i.a. currently. If I get a chance over the next day or two, I'll try to take a few pics w/ my cell phone...

Just got an 06 Z and have the same issue. It seems to be more apparent in 1st gear up to about 2700 rpm's. Let me know if any of you figure out the solution. It's an 06 Z with 21k miles.
