Default New Personal best ET!!!

So last time i went to the track, My tires were junk. So i invested in some Mickey Thompson Drag Radials and put them on my stock front wheels.

Out of 8 passes i trapped 131 everytime so the power is definately there. Only problem was that i was hooking too good!! Bogged on every launch. Started the tires out at 20 lbs. Then went to 25... then 30.. did less of a burnout so they wouldn't get as sticky and this worked. Also i have the stock clutch so to keep it from going to the floor i just had to let it out as fast as i could. Also changed my rpms up.. First pass left at 3000.. then 3500.. then 4500.. still bogged!! highest rpm launch was 4800.

Fastest pass was 11.07 then a 11.13... both at 131
Best 60 ft was 1.79 and that was on the 11.13 pass. Video will be up in a couple days when the guy gets it up..

Definately some left.. i need a smaller tire.. these rubbed on the way to the track when i would hit a bump... these tires are huge!!!! When i crossed the 1/4 mile mark my speedometer said i was going 120 when i was really going 131.. Tires were 305/45/18

This was not a Track Rental. Memphis Motorsports Park had a test and tune and they are having one next week too (12-13). There were hardly any cars there! most i had to wait in line was 3 cars all day. We raced from 12 to 4. 20 for racers 10 for spectators. And my mods are in my sig. I need a clutch bad!!!

Here ya go:

Try a 5500 rpm launch, that's what it took to bet my 422 iron block WS6 under way with a 1.59 60'.

I know it sound s insain but it works.

You need the fly wheel energy to get under way.

WTG Casey. You figured the drag radials would make a difference and boy did they.

Nice job!
With my launch technique, I cannot launch higher then 4200 rpm's or the clutch falls to the floor....and yes I get a decent bog on EVERY launch.

Continued improvements!!

Great times MT also makes a 345 50 18 I run those on the Viper, and was considering those for the vette they are 299/ and seem to hook beter than the BFG's I ran in the past.

Great results Mr. Vetteman24

You are one good launch away from breaking into the 10's and become yet another member of the 10's sec QM600 club.

From your descriptions and attached time slip, the stock clutch impeded you from busting into the 10's. A better clutch and better 60' times will equate to consistant high to mid 10 sec times cam only!!!

A quick advice: once you install the new clutch, also refresh the clutch fluid and at the track, try tire psi in the 16 to 20 psi range and launch in the 4,800 and 5,500 range and shift to the best of your abilities.

Remember, you are not looking to set a world record, focus on pass over pass personal improvements.

Thanks
Carlos
