My vote is for a new car but I doubt the dealer will go for that.

G.M. will just send a new motor and not pay the dealer to rebuild one. Doubt they will give you a new car but it never hurts to ask.

Some specifics on miles, age etc would make it easier to determine what is realistic, but I see no issue with a new motor.

New shortblock is the only way to go, anything else (except for a complete long block) is insanity and will only cost GM money. Sorry to hear this and I hope you are back on the road soon. Perhaps they will take longer than 30 days and you will get your new one after all...if that is the law in your state.

Why would you want your Z06 sent to Michigan??? It's built in Bowling Green,KY.......

But to answer your question....no way in the world they give you a brand new car for a blown motor....any more than they would give the guy with a cobalt with a blown motor one.

I believe in Texas as long as they don't give you something comparable to drive while your car is in the shop for more than 30 days and it is not fixed...it could qualify for the lemon law. I hope they are able to resolve this quickly and to your satisfaction.

I'm sure his time would probably bee $250 bucks an hour, and likely a 2hr minimum... but if I could swing $500 buck (do a quick 5 minute no charge phone consult first), but I'd bring an attorney with me to the dealership if said attorney thinks his persuasion might entice the dealer to give you a new car even under your state's lemon law.

Might be $500 bucks out the window, but the presence of an attorney shows you mean business and might intimidate the sales manager to talk to the owner and if they think it'll go to litigation, the dealership's investment in paying their attorney to go to bat for them, sometimes they might think it'd be cheaper just to give you a new car rather than hours upon hours of attorney fees....

Just a thought. And when you do meet, act "rich" (like your attorney fees wont be that big of an impact).

Whenever I've had meaningful disputes with the potential for litigation, sometimes the letter I write has "CC: Mr. John Ducati. Attorney at law"... John is my Uncle, and sometimes a family member as an attorney carries some weight because they're usually taking the case for free and the other side assumes such, so they know you mean business and it likely wont cost you anything.

I think he has in mind sending the motor back to Wixom, MI. I don't think they ever do that - some cars go back to Bowling Green for a motor swap, however.

Send it to Michigan. Only have the transport drop it off in Clinton Township. C/O Katech, Inc.
