Is it harmful to rev your z06 engine?
Since I got my 08 z06, everyone and their mother is always asking me
to hear the engine exhaust with the fuse pulled.
I got married this month and had a lot of parties so I been revving my
z06 pretty frequently.
My question is..is it harmful to just turn my z06 on and rev the engine once to like 6500rpm's in neutral and turn it off so people can hear it?
I know this is a pretty tough car and it built to handle things hard but so far this month I have revved my engine to like 6500 rpm's just to let people hear it like 4 or 5 times.
I just want to make sure I'm not F****** up anything.
Thanks

Thanks Captain Obvious. What would be a good temperature number to aim for and how can I achieve that temp? Should I leave the car on for 5 minutes? maybe go take it for a spin? then it will be ready? I just want to know what precautions I should take so I don't mess up anything in my engine.
Thanks.
(I didn't know that cold rev's were harmful to your engine so I came here looking for knowledge from the best).
Thanks.

I wouldn't make it a habit to free rev the car at idle, regardless of oil/coolant temp. I see these idiots at these saturday night car meets that free rev like near the limiter (some bouncing off), and I'm just cringing maybe rev it to 4000 or something, but save the 5K+ for actual in gear situations

Free revving the engine to 6500 RPM is just plain crazy, up to temps or not.. It should be quite sufficient to go to 3500 or so to satisfy the curiosity of the locals I would think.. I cringe at the very thought of my engine spinning over that fast under no load just so somebody can listen to it.. They might get a chance to hear something else.. Jeez.. tell them if they are around when you leave they can give it a listen..

is there any science behind these statements or is it just a case of "thats the way its always been done" or "an old tech back in 60s told me not to do that."
