[QUOTE=Bill Dearborn;1577080841] If it ain't broke don't fix it. A little bumping on a cold shift doesn't indicate or even come close to indicating a problem with a transmission. I started at the beginning of this thread and I think the OP was a victim of being **** and complaining about a non problem, which got him involved in a violation of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" law.

Bill[
I was also going under the ".....if it ain't broken rule also..... for a few months of grinding fifth gear....but as others have said...what's to worry if it is a warranty.....now I can feel relieved and get on with it....and hopefully with no further grinding or bumping.

I just came from my dealer and they are replacing my fifth gear and syncro....oither gears were OK.
Warranty item........ and life is good

My '08 has been grinding when performing a high RPM shift from 1st to 2nd since the day I bought it. Hundreds of other people have had this problem too, and it's been going on for YEARS. Has anyone figured out what the problem is, or do we just have to live with defective transmissions forever???

It appears that this should be a "Sticky" thread.

Mine is a 08 and I get a little metallic growl on occassion taking off in 1st. I believe this is clutch related.

What issues are you referring to as fixed in '09? If it's the notching transmission/grinding issue there are a number of guys in this thread with '09s having that problem. So not sure what is "fixed".

My 07 has been at the dealer for 3 weeks with them waiting on t56 parts or a new tr6060. The mechanic said my tranny was hot. I guess that it had a burn in it. I find it hard to believe that dealers can't get parts or a new tranny because none are available. So my wait continues

Is it reasonable to expect a low to mid mileage '08 would have already had this issue come up and corrected by an original owner if it were going to happen? I am in the market for an '08Z.

I have test drove two looking for this issue. Is it only apparent at a high RPM shift or can you feel it just rowing through the gears while the car is off?

my 2012 has the same issue, i would consider it normal as my 2008 was exactly the same. i would not put any concern on this subject.
it seems only apparent when the trans is cold and your driving normally.
i think by the time most people are ready to romp on the car, they have already gotten the engine to operating temp and the issue is gone by then.

fyi i have heard of several people changing out the manual trans fluid to something different with good results. i would do a search for that and plan to replace it if you think yours has any issues.

Is there an easy visual clue to seeing if I have a T56 or a TR6060 in my 08 Z06. I had it in the other day to install my ackrapovic exhaust in a Corvette performance shop and he said I have a T56, there was nothing on the GM vis when I bought the car. No problems with the transmission though..shifts great.....just wondering...??

Is there a 'built TR6060' version that is for over 600rwhp and will not carry over all the issues the stock one has? I have a 08 H&C, Stroker getting ordered mid April.

Forum vendor RPM does extensive transmission enhancements and has a good forum reputation (I've not dealt with them-stock TR6060 with modest cold gear "nibble").

I have built many TR6060's for the 900 RWHP + crowd. The "built" unit consist of carbon blockers on the 1-4 gears/bronze fork pads/micro polishing gears. You can change out the gears for ZR1 ratios if you need more strength.
