Default camshaft upgrade

We are thinking about adding a camshft to a Vette Dr. header, intake and chip upgrade.
My partner in crime (wife) LIKES the way the Z idles when cold, God bless her. Rough, that is.
So a cam would keep that going all the time , Right?
What would be the mildest cam that would create that "effect".
So jump in here and give your trusted 2 cents

Thanks,
Scoot

I highly recommend the Katech cam if you are not looking to get outrageous with a camshaft.

Here is an idle clip of my Katech cam
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po_v8-TLnA8

As you can see it has a nice lope at idle and it also has a nice shake to it

Jim Hall of Halltech already has a tune for this cam.

Here is more info on the Katech cam

Give Carlos a call at vette-air/Quality MotorSports. This guy know our cars as good if not better than anyone on this site. His pricing is very reasonable, a lot lower than most tuners on this site. He also is by far the best ecm Tuners here.

Just click the link in this post.

http://www.theair-charger.com/

Ask him about the QM600 Cam that should fit your needs very nicely.

You could always put my cam in which I am now naming the it "LETHALZ" camshaft. Its inbetween the katech and QM600. 231/249 .630/.652 110+3 Ran a 10.62 with it last night.

That cam really does sound real nice and mean, very impressive.

Did you try to bring the idle down around 800 rpm? oh, and do you have the stock cat backs?

Thanks Again,

Les

It does have a sweet idle...my buddy sez...."dude it pops some serious corn!" And he is right, sounds good, not an "all-out" cam but u would never know that listening to the idle!

All out does not make sense for the street. I drive mine every day. It is enough for an old man.

If your going to do a cam and spend some money on the install, do it right.

Call Carlos, the QM600 cam has been proven for large gains (40-50HP), just ask and check out all the dyno gains posted on this forum by cf users.

It is a big cam, but with the right tune it drives quite good, the only issue would be ignoring 6th gear.

Ask for cf members review, there will be lots compared to other cams.

You wouldn't have to ignore 6th if you cruise at 120

Yea I am considering a cam myself(hell I am considering alot of things), but I would want a fairly stock idle. If I could pick up >40 rwhp I would probably do it. MTI are you listening?

We are finding a bigger and better fix everyday! We just got done with three, yes three QM600 cam Z's this morning! We dyno until
2:45am CST!!! And learn more and more about these cars and the
QM600. We were able to get all three cars to drive like champs. Will post dynos later; I'm taking a quick nap.

Any cam, and I mean any cam you install in your car will have to be clean up unless you put in a BABY cam. At that point why waste the money, for the sound?

Thanks,
Carlos
