28k miles 09 z06 for 36k?
Hey I have the option of buying the z06 listed here:
http://m.autotrader.ca/a/5_27448897&mnclk=1?ts=1476321321793
(I converted from km to miles and cnd to usd)
It is completely mint but I am worried about the valve issue. the car proof (Canadian car fax) that shows that the vechicle was certified GM used vechicle in 2013. Does that mean that the heads were checked or do I need to budget another 1.5k or so to cover the eventual head failure?
Anyways should I get this car or not?
cheers!

Solid deal...my '09 has 16K miles and no way in hell would I sell it for $36K. Its worth more than that to me anyways. I say grab it before its gone!
...and yes, budget/plan on addressing the heads. The GM "certification" means nothing.

I have a 2008 ZO6 that I bought new. It has 90,000 miles on it.
I've never had any problems or issues with it.
I also wouldn't sell it for $36K.
I'd say you have a very good deal there.

+1 for great deal.
I'm in Toronto and that price just wouldn't happen here... crazy to think that the dealer is making profit on that price also.. the seller took a beating on that trade in price IMO.
Yes budget for the head work, regardless of certification.
Also just keep in mind condition of tires/brakes as those are fairly big $ items as well.

GMCV means normal maint items were checked, engine's not cracked open for a thorough inspection. So yes budget $ to minimally have heads professionally inspected asp following purchase.
But do be prepared for next step, should anything be out of spec, ie head rebuild. No big deal in the scheme of things.
Or, could buy a GMEPP -- IF they're available in CN.
It's a potential choice anyway, $-wise a GMEPP & head job's a wash.

That's a nice deal, but as a comp I just bought a showroom DSOM 08 Z06 with only 9,800 miles and about $20k in mods including Heads/cam/AR LT's, tune + coilovers + custom audio system, seats, steering wheel+ a $6k set of 360 forged wheels for $38.5k. Included stock parts too. Sold the stock wheels and tires for $1200 immediately, which made it the net sale price actually $37.2k. Could reduce it further if I sell the stock seats.
Granted it took me like 6 months to find a deal like that. Deals are out there, you just have to be very patient, always checking the ads and then be very fast to send a deposit to secure the sale. I sent the guy a deposit about 20 mins after he posted the Ad.

The valve issue was an anthill turned into a mountain on this forum. Most 95% of owners if not more didn't have this happen some did and it sucks and most didn't. Some were stock it seems, but a lot seemed highly modded.
If it were 8% or more GM would have had a recall.

Yes by those who's motors were toasted from dropping valves.
Ive been here 4 months, and 3 motors went from valves.
If it were 8% or more GM would have had a recall.
No.
Culpability is always denied when its not safety related.
GM has also already admitted a problem exist [taking part blame]
