Nice pass !!!!

I think I could squeeze a 10.3X@ 132+ out of my Torquer 110 package if I had better air to run in, but I have to agree with you.....I'd need to switch to the K501 to run higher traps as the 110 doesn't have the top end breathing ability and is not a drag racing cam.

Thanks.

Yeap... when I put this Katech cam in, I wasn't planning on racing it. But, I sold my old bracket car and needed something new, so here I am.

I actually now think I can get into the 9's with this Katech 110.....that 10.45 above pass had tire spin on the initial hit, I have trouble hooking-up clean on this 1/4 mile track as does everybody from what I am told. Most of my racing is on a local 1/8th mile, hence my best passes due to the volume I race there, which is a 1.39 60 ft, 6.47 @ 105 mph thus far. That equates into a 10.2x, and this is in the summer. Most full hooks passes right now in summer air is 1.39 to 1.42 60 ft. This should be mid to high 1.3's in average fall air and I would think 10.0's minimum. But, just guessing....I'll find out for sure in a couple of months.

The above is with the stock Intake and TB.... just added a Fast 102 and TB this week. Hope to find a tenth and mph with that. Will find out tonight at the local 1/8th track.

I think the K501 would make it a little easier, based upon my simulation modeling of the engine torque curves Katech has released on both cams, it'd pick up 1 to 1.5 tenths and 1.5 to 2.0 mph vs the Torquer. Not bad at all.

I also have a big lumpy Mike Jones spec'd cam in my garage.... if push comes to shove, I'll install it someday.

Much better to come.

If not, that just might be enough to go sub 10.0, but I think it will be close.

I went a 10.404 on a 6.587@105.22 1/8th split one night back in January in Arizona, full weight with my 20x10 ZR1 runflats on the front, but the cam lays down after 6300 RPM, so the traps speeds are not as big as some of the more drag oriented cams. The K501 pulls all the way to 7000, IIRC.

It should be close.... ran the 1/8th tonight with the new FAST intake and TB.... didn't break my 6.47 personal et record, but did run a new best trap speed of an indicated 107.70 with a 6.53.

I run a Weld RT-S dragpack..... I have no other weight reductions. Sometimes I have the passenger seat out depending on if I am changing tires at the track, but I've run before and after on that and only helps a few hundredths at best. I think I added weight with the Auto conversion, but not sure.....and I weigh 270 lbs, so its not a lightweight. At the Texas Motorplex it indicated 3300 lbs, but I'm told that scale was off, so I don't know what I weigh for certain.

With you... I've raced Firebird, that is not a fast track, especially in the summer. Get yourself away from their, maybe up the coast in California and you'll pick-up several tenths in my opinion. You don't have any fast tracks around their.... Vegas is even slower.

Although Ive had a few C5Z and C6Z this was the first time out in this car, and on stock Goodyear runflats. Im happy with the time for now, need to wait for some better weather and put some better tires on it.

Does my air intake put me into the full bolt-ons category? Even with stock tires?

Since this is only an 1/8 mile pass, it cannot be placed on the Fast List. However, your info is beneficial to the community.

Yes. The Halltech does increase the performance and there is no separate category. I can tell you that a simple drop-in air filter that was not stock pushed my 1st entry on the C5Z Fast List to the C5 Z06 CAI and DOT Tire Times (drag radial and bias ply) category. That was back in 2004 when I first met Ranger. I immediately replaced that K&N filter with an OEM paper filter and ran quicker.
