Having raced at MIR since 2001 and using a TAG weather station track side through those years, I've learned that the air temp on the lanes is generally warmer that the weather forecast for Mechanicsville or Patuxent NAS, the two closest standard reporting locations. Like many racers, I take the reading out of the sun and at the height of the air inlet to the motor; that's just below waist level.
What most racers know is that the racing surface is generally a good bit warmer than the air temp. That heat radiates up. On Nov 25 we had two weather stations with our group; both were showing about 58 degree at the time of my 11.13 pass and a DA of zero feet. There was almost no wind either.
I started tracking the weather when I arrived at the gate an hour before they opened. The temp cracked through 50 at 0930 or so and it warmed up quit a bit higher than the forecast. Every day I've raced at MIR this year has been warmer than Accuweather Premium (for Mechanicsville) has predicted, generally by 5-15 degrees. Some of that is due to the wide expanse of blacktop in the MIR pits. On sunny days the blacktop is 20-35 degrees above the weather forecast temp.
The DA calculators are not the issue. After all, there is also a DA calculator inside all of the portable weather stations. The DA algorithms are well known.
I think the variance is something else.
Reading through the manual from my Performaire Eclipse weather station, it mentions that the device is extremely sensitive and that wind can significantly change the temperature recorded, causing the unit to take longer to stabilize and display a reading. So on a day when there is a little bit of wind, and then periods of no wind, the temp can (and does) fluctuate several degrees.
Kind of obvious, and can explain why there are variations of temperature.

I'll upload the timeslip tomorrow at work where I have a scanner.
I see that you have a bone stock 11.55 as well? Do you want it included as well? If so, then I will need information/time slip on it as well.
