Default 2006 ZO6 motor locked up...anyone else had this problem?

20,000 miles, no warnings, I think it's the main bearings because the crank hub won't budge when car is rocked back and forth while in gear....HELP!

My engine seized due to a piston detonation. Make sure all the OEM equipment is right where it should be when you take it into the dealer. If it's covered under warranty

If not... see below.

Sounds like it could be the oil pump failure...??? There have been a few Zs that have encountered that!

Are certain build date cars more prone to engine problems? Should one be weary of Z06's built within a certain time frame?

No. However, the '07's appear to have an issue that the '06's did not have - needle bearings from the rockers ending up in the oil pan . . . So far, just a handful.

Damn that sucks, I got my eye on a new Z that just got delivered to the dealer. I would hate to have some damn needles fall out and get into the engine and jam the oil pump up and screw the engine up the engine all to hell.

thats the 64,000 dollar question. If we don't try and at least gather the information, we will never know if there's a pattern or not

I saw your finish work first hand this weekend on Frenchican's Z.

Very impressive. The nicest engine detail I have seen thus far.

...sorry to hear about this.

As many here are already of, I've owned 2 '06 Z06's and 1 '07 Z06.

Only issue I had was on my 2nd ('06 Z06 My 1st '06 Z06 was totaled). The roof blew off while I was on the FL Turnpike. I successfully lemon law(ed) that car and purchased the '07.

If my LS7 had blown on my '07 , I'd definitely ship it to Graham Behan, at LPE.

In fact I'm thinking very seriously of shipping it to them anyway to have a very QUIET FULLY forged LS7 or C5R motor built. LPE offers a warranty as the majority of Vette tuners do NOT.

Best of luck,

Les

No metal on plugs during my oil change at 1200 miles.
