C6Z06--New Best Bone Stock on Stock Tires 11.22 127.16
Spent a delightful spring day at a rental of Maryland International Raceway yesterday (Friday March 30th). We had six Corvettes and a dedicated lane for the day in favorable weather. Blue sky, full sun, good barometer, air temps in the 60s, dry air. Density altitude was within the range of zero-500 feet. Track surface temp was 61-95 degrees. No one broke and there were no track incidents. Perfect day.
My series was 11.25 126.99, 11.22 127.16 and 11.29 126.86
Splits on my PR pass were:
60'........1.852 3350 launch rpm with a fast clutch release and fast throttle squeeze
330'......4.900
660'......7.356 100.59
1000'.....9.450
1320'...11.223 127.16
This particular video combines film shot from behind the waterbox with audio recorded inside the car. It gives a much better impression of what the driver hears during the pass and the movement the car makes on the shifts. If you crank up the volume, the bass really shakes the desk.
DA at the time was 200 feet. Car bogged on the launch and spun the wheels on the 1-2 shift. All shifts included throttle lift, but were executed very fast. Rear tires were set to 25 psi and the fronts to 40, adjusted before each pass.
I continue to believe that a perfect pass will yield around 11.15 on the stock tires. Not sure I’ll ever do that, but someone probably will. I’d have been close on that pass without the excessive spin on the 1-2.
Our Corvette club now has five other stock C6Zs running under 11.56 on stock tires.
dgdoc…........11.45
JeffM….........11.49
Steve Row....11.50
JP7..............11.54
MikeS..........11.55
And their times will continue to improve with more practice, practice, practice, as we continue to do rentals together and share insights from watching each others passes.
Best to all,
Ranger

It was a Fun Day! Thanks Again John!
My 11.55@126.99 with a 2.01 60'. It felt like a good run from the launch although a little spin on the 2-3 shift.
And JeffM did the 11.49 in my Z06 so I know I can get into the 4's!
Gotta do some more practicing!

Ranger - An 11.22 with a 1.85 60' time is simply amazing. I'm sure you've got people thinking what the potential might be if combined with your best 60'.
But I almost forgot - It's really not great driving since everone knows you've got a "factory freak" or you've been secretly modding your PCM.
And fantastic job by the rest of the pack. Just terrific to see this. I'm feeling the heat and need to get back out there.....
Congrats to all.

There are two parts to the equation.
(1) learning what to do
(2) actually do it.
(2) is the hardest part. And you've done it.

Excellent pass John!!
With that 60', it tells me you've got your shift points really dialed in now to still achieve such a low ET!
Congrats!!

Congrats on the new PB, Ranger. I agree with Ron on what might have been with a better 60'...perhaps a lot lower than your projected max of 11.15.
MikeS...how much of a weight difference is there between you and and JeffM?
