2007 Z06 Dyno Tune & Track Results
Just thought I post some results after a drag strip test day at Moroso Motorsports in West Palm Beach FL back on March 9. Unfortunately, we don't have much winter weather down here in S. FL. The track temperature was 88*F with 46% RH and our D/A was about 1900'. Since this was a small crowd, the track was not prepared with VHT and decent 60's were difficult to achieve.
The car has basic bolt-ons such as LG headers, a 160 T-stat, a ported T-body and intake from Jeremy Formato, an F1 filter from Halltech and the "air-charger" from Myhardtop (best $89 bucks ever spent!)
I was a little disappointed with the dyno results since after three different tunes, the best we could achieve was 473/446 in 89* weather. As many racer will agree, the dyno sometimes doesn't reflect actual real world street or track conditions but should only be used to see if a modification increases or decreases power. With that in mind, I figured the track was the ultimate place to find out what the car has in it.
Moroso is very strict on the 11.99 and faster rules. Thanks to Bob "16Again" and Roger at HPS, I was able to get that reduced to the 11.50 bump rules. Still, that leaves little room for testing since the car et's well under this and one good run was all she rode.
Overall, I was happy with the results. A special thanks to Mike Norris and Brian at Kelly Performance for their tuning efforts. Cooler air temps and a better prepared track might have resulted in the elusive 130 mph, 10 sec club.

Very nice pass, Slow Poke.
Wouldn't put much creedence in the dyno numbers. I suspect yours is at about 500 rwhp like all the others with essentially the same mods.
Track prep looked quite decent; you didn't get more than normal spin on the 1-2.
You'll just need to adapt the launch to the finicky LS7 clutch and you'll be in the 10s. Your car is making good power and the rev rate of climb attests to that.

Very impressive!! I see that you have been reading the forum about which rear rims and tires to use. I hope those are the 17" C5 ZO6 front rims!! I have a set and will make some passes next friday Night.
Thanks Ranger for the info!!

Just goes to show you that numbers don't mean all that much. You are trapping at 130 mph with a so called 473 rwhp..
Can you tell us a little about your pass? Launch rpm? slip or dump clutch? any power shifts (though it didn't sound like it)
Great runs man..

Watched the run and have it on video too. In fact I have your buddy videoing that run in my video. I'm the guy who was asking you about the car walking back after the run. My buddy was there with his new to him blue Z06 learning the clutch, I've got matching blue C6 convertible who handed him his a$$ all day . Ahh that will change when he learns to launch.
Can you give me some more details on that Air charger mod? My buddy can use one. We scanned his runs with HP Tuners and his IAT started at 150 but the CAI got it down to 104 by 80 mph. My Vararam started at 93 and got down to 84, so he wants to do more than just the factory CAI.

GaryZ06, NC EB Z06 & Ranger,
Thanks for the replies.
Icebourg,
Those are the C5 Z06 fronts with 315/35/17 BFG drag radials as recommended by Ranger.
Zlicious,
This was only the 8th pass made on the car with 770 miles on the clock. Things happen very fast and there is a big learning curve ahead. With Ranger's advice, the car was launched at 3k with a quick release and lift on every shift. Unfortunately, one pass is all she rode due to track rules. That makes life tough especially driving 180 miles round trip to the track for one pass!
Joe G,
The air-charger is made and sold by Carlos "Myhardtop" at his website www.theair-charger.com. Great product for the money and my IAT was very close to ambient. My tune has no retard built in until 140* and with the air-charger it never saw that temp. PM if you need any further info?
Dr. Ron,
