Someone mention The tach on the HUD only looks like it is at 2 or 3K. I know the HUD says 190 but maybe this was KPH?
It is hard to say if it is really 190 MPH but if it was KPH it will be 118 MPH and does it look like 118 MPH ? not sure.
As for the tach it is hard to say as it does not see to be moving even as the car accelerate, maybe the camera can not capture it.

That HUD doesn't lie, it's KPH not MPH and the RPM'S were way to low, those of us who have cars with HUD in it know better. 190 KPH, that's it. RPMS and KPH do match, we know that Low RPM's --> Low MPH's --> HIGH KPH. Open thy eyes!
I'm sorry to say this...but it doesn't look like that Z06 is doing 190 Mph.....as many said...take a look at the revs and the traffic in the right lane......this is 190 km/h for sure....when he is slowing down to claimed 150 Mph the speed is even with the cars in the right lane......no way!
It's sad if someone has to fib about going fast in a car that goes.... fast. Especially when they go through the effort to record it on a road that allows you to stretch the Z06's legs.
I've gone 150+ mph on a closed coarse in my Z06 and while the car was solid, I wasn't.
Whether it's real or not, a bunch of people were screaming bloody murder a few weeks ago when that guy legitimately went 190+ on the autobahn and now it's cool. How does that make any sense?

There's nothing about high speed driving that makes sense.....it's very fun though!
I had the feeling that I was going to be called a faker since it does look deceiving when looking at the video than when you are actually there. It is difficult to see the tach bar or if it is MPH or Km/H. You could see both better if you expand the view into full screen. The left side of the tach bar is brighter than the top, but if you look closely the tach is actually reading past 6000 rpm at 190 MPH. And it does show that the tach is not even moving, so how could this be possible as you can see the speed increasing? You can also see that the Km/h on the HUD is wider than the MPH because of the extra character ("/" 4 vs 3 characters). MPH is also all in caps vs all lower case for km/h, so if you look at it at full screen view you can basically see the all caps indicator. Those of you who own C6 Z06's should be able to confirm this.
I think what adds to the illusion of the car looking slower than it is, is the fact that I had to zoom in a little bit to get a better picture of the HUD. If you look at how fast the white divider lines are going by, it gives one a better perception as to how fast the car really is. And someone asked about the noise as I slowed down, well that is my rear tire going over those white lines since I drifted to the right a little. If someone who lives in Germany can replicate the rate that I was going over those lines, you can confirm the speed. Actually if someone knows the length of the those lines here in Germany, you can calculate the speed that I was going using the sound bite. I'm not about to go there and measure it, so someone who really wants to know should do it.
Also, on the other video showing the guy doing 195, notice the rate that he is going by those white divider lines, and compare it on the video that I posted. 118 mph (rough equivalent of 190 kph) and 195mph should look significantly different right? You be the judge.
I wish photobucket can display it at a higher resolution, since the video that I uploaded is much clearer. If anyone wants me to e-mail them an 8mb video file, let me know.
I hear a lot of speculations about how this speed should look like, but all I can say is unless you've gone at this speed, you really don't have an idea how fast it really is. If you say you have, and still not convinced that I'm not lying, then I'm calling you claim a bs.
Lastly, at the MPH equivalent of 190 km/h, which is 118.8 mph, you will not pass anybody that fast on a 3 lane autobahn 3 mile straight stretch. Even CONGAMAN can attest to that.
Hey I thought you weren't allowed to flash the lights any more???
Flashing is not recommended to get people out of the left lane, but most people who wants other people to get out of their way are not the patient kind, so instead of waiting and hope that the slow person notice them back there, people will flash their lights or turn on their left turn signal, which is also not recommended. This rule is like telling people not to go over the posted speed limit at any time. So as long as it is not a Polezei's car, people flashes all day
You guys have ben had! Look at the video, at 169 he is passing a small red van that could not be doing more than 70-80 mph at best! It's obvious he is doing 169 kph. Can you guys with a Z06 check your HUD and see the difference between the mph and the kph indicators? They must be in a different place, like in my C5.
I assume you haven't been in Germany. They have station wagons here that cruises on the highway, not tops out, at 140+ mph, so judging by the kind of car on the road how fast other cars are going, is probably a mistake at best.
Did it feel planted all the way up to 190 or did it start to feel light on the road?
Thanks for sharing...very cool
Thanks. During this run, it felt pretty planted. I did 2 more afterwards and did feel a bit light on the front so I had to back off. I assume that the wind might have picked up a little since it was getting warmer.

Unless it's a BMW/Merc/Audi that's . And even so, crusing at 140+ mph... come on. That's not correct. People who drive at that speed stay in the left lane because that's what it's there for.

It did look significantly different. It looked like he was going way faster than you.
I've done 195mph indicated in my Z06 and can totally believe this vid is genuine. Anyone with ears can hear that the engine is revving more than 2/3k rpm!
Is the car a US or Euro model?
The Euro cars' speedos overread by a good 11-12mph or even more at that speed as measured by GPS as the Euro traffic laws are very strict about no underreading.
I live here in germany. I wont even get into this one....Get some balls. You are going to have to get a better video to prove this to someone that lives here. Yes most cars here do drive faster than in the states but not 130-140mph. Most cars do about 80. In this video say that the cars are doing 80-90 at best, you doing 180 means that it would look like you were driving past parked cars at 100. Not the case by a long shot. NIce try though... You got a couple people.
195 mph my ass. Go to 20 seconds. That truck towing a car must be doing at LEAST 140 if he's doing 180 at that point! That has to be some sort of world record.
Gee there is a lot of downright rudeness towards the OP on this thread.
As I've said, I've DONE 195mph (indicated, which is probably more like 184mph real) as well as higher speeds in other cars and totally believe the video is genuine.
1) You can hear the revs! It is certainly pulling more than the 2/3k that is legible on the HUD. As Obi-Wan said, "your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them!"
2) The video is zoomed in as stated by the OP. That dramatically reduces the "rush" effect of the speed. The other vid quoted is shot very wide so you see a lot of the side background whizzing by at 190mph, hence why it looks so much faster.
3) Has anyone questioned WHY O7zeeO6 would bother to put up a misleading vid? He owns a Z06, why would he open himself to ridicule (which some of you have kindly provided anyway) just to record himself doing 118mph?
