showroom stock pass #4: 11.311
made the 245 mile road trip down to houston and the weather was very nice. Slight headwind, but the temp (58), humidity (30%ish), and baramoter (30.35ish) were definitely better than my #1 and #2 passes back in October (ran an 11.44 on pass #1).
So on to passes 3 and 4 from yesterday. I had just last week installed two new rear emts, so I was wondering how they were going to react at the strip. They are very new. I lined up for pass #3, had the rears down to 25psi, made my burnout, staged around 3000, released....and rut-ruh, immediate wheel hop. That definitely caught me by surprise and is probably the first time I've experienced wheel hop since buying the car last July. I basically performed a complete throttle lift 10 feet off the line, got back under controlled wot, shifted on through without incident and ran 11.66 at 122. 1.97 60ft. All worsts for me.
Returned to the pits, cooled her down and counted my blessings that the wheelhop didn't grenade any parts. I'm sure the quick lift I made was the absolute right decision. I gathered my confidence back up, returned to the staging lanes, and got ready to roll. I made no psi change to the tires (25 rear/40 front). Made my burnout, staged around 3100, and let 'er rip:
60ft.... 1.801
330.... 4.879
1/8.... 7.372
mph... 99.07
1000.. 9.506
1/4... 11.311
mph.. 122.89
The entire pass was very smooth. Launch went perfectly, 1-2 no wheel hop, and I lift shifted all the way home. I can't quite explain why I can't mph any higher...but I'm definitely pleased with only 4 total passes now that I'm finding a way to 60ft (1.82, 1.81, 1.97 wheel hopper, and 1.80). I know my car is making the power as I've had it dynoed and was right in line. I need more passes I guess to find the shift sweetspots and avoid TM as much as possible. I very well could be trying to hammer the 1-2 too hard. Not sure. Anyhoo...I'm still extremely pleased....and did I mention these car are bad ***?
Vid coming shortly.

Yeah, you seem to be getting a hang of the 60' on EMT's. My best was 1.72 but it cost me TWO pairs of rear EMT's. You keep this up, and you too will be buying another set
As far as your trap speed, that is weird. You may be hitting your 1-2 shifts too aggressively and not making it up on top. What I mean is, not power shifting/fast speed shifting to make up for the possible lost of momentum during those first few hundred feet.
At any case, ET is what wins you races and not MPH. 11.30’s will romp on just about 98% of the super & some modified (DR’s) cars out there. Heck, you may even get in the 11.20’s on EMT Stock! It appears that your old racing form is coming back like it was when we used to race during the Texas Vette shoot outs…keep it up brotha.
Thanks,
Carlos

thanks for all the kind words!
I usually do not go to Ennis because in the past I could talk my way around the roll bar rule at HRP in Houston. But never at Ennis when I had the '02 blue car. And also, I have many friends and family in Houston, so I make a trip out of it. Alot of them come out to the track with me. However, the roll bar rule isn't working any more. Both the trips in the new silver car to HRP have resulted in scrutiny from tech for sub 11.50 runs. The good ole days are over. But HRP does have superb prep; it is overall a better, more consistent prepped track than Ennis IMO. And the elevation is excellent (19 ft vs probably 600ft at Ennis). But Ennis isn't too shabby with reported times from drivers like 355spider and Carlos...they seem to run awesome at Ennis!

Raises the question of how Ranger is getting 129.5mph? For the exception of drag radials, he has the highest MPH on a stock Z that I have witnessed, guess he got one of those freaky high hp engines. (Not taking any skill away from his driving as I am sure, his driving skill is a major piece of the equation).

I've had traps over 127.5 on stock tires.
A major factor in trap speeds is the driving.
(1) the percentage of the pass spent with the clutch out (shift speed)
(2) capturing the maximum average horsepower through shift point correctness.
Good track prep also is important. It's normally quite good at the tracks I ran on in 2006.
Weather plays a role too. But my car ran over 127 on four tracks in weather from 1000'-1800'. So good traps can happen even when the DA isn't great. I had three passes over 128 at a DA of about 800'.
In the C6Z coolant temp also plays a role. Don't want it above 195 or so. Hurts power.

Yeah probably because you "experimented" with your HPtuners
