1st time in a long time
It's been 4 years since I last drag raced my 03 Z06.
Last saturday took the 07 Z06 (bone stock on stock tires) to Cecil County Dragway for a test and tune. Weather was average - warmed up to about 70F.
Pretty crowded and I got 3 runs in. Followed Rangers recommendations on tire pressure, clutch release, water temps, etc.
I was pretty conservative. Came out at 2000 rpm, fast release of clutch followed by throttle. Car locked up, bogged and I just let the motor do the work.
I didn't get any wheel hop in first gear but did have a brief amount of wheel hop/tire slip during shift into 2nd and also may have had some minor amount of tire slip with shift into 3rd. It was hard to really tell.
I also lift throttle on gear changes but I definitely stomp the gas to the floor after shifting - and I think this triggered TM. It is really counter intuitive to shift without applying throttle as quickly as possible. I was shifting pretty close to 7000 rpm without hitting the limiter.
My first run was 11.84s @121.0 mph with a 1.9 60ft. I was pretty happy as this was better than my best run in the C5Z after 60 passes (11.93 @ 117.5 with CAI and BFG's).
Second run I did 2nd gear burnout which worked well - tires heated quickly and didn't have to rev over 5000rpm. Came out at 2200 rpm. This was my best run.
60 ft 1.86 s
330ft 5.081 s
1/8 7.659 s @ 95.97 MPH
1000 ft 9.864 s
1/4 11.709 s @ 122.85 mph
Came out at 2500 rpm on third run and overspun and slowed to 11.9s with 2.0 60 ft.
I'm wondering if anyone can tell how/if TM affected my run? 1/8 mile mph seems low but car seemed to pull strong in 3rd.
Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions. I feel like I need to practice throttle application at the start and shifts to avoid TM to lower my ET's (as well as my shifting and take-off and another 40-50 runs!).
