The builders that have been at PBC longest are Jim Knipp, Rich McBride, Kerry Rasmussen and Charlie Giese. They were at PBC when I arrived in August 2007 and are still here. Others have transferred to PT Engineering or retired. We have been fortunate to have outstanding engine builders, then and today!
Don,

We toured the plant on September 5th, 2007, so you must have been there at that time. We also met Bruce Elam that day. Steve Collins, our engine builder, had just retired. From looking at the old poster, it sounds like most of those builders have now left.

Please say hi to Barry if you do see him.

Hey Anthony,

Sorry the late response - must have missed your post before. Welcome to the Forum!

Yes I do still work at Wixom with the builders, although lately I've spent most of my time running cold test, or engine balance, or daily torque checks. I've been here since Aug. 2007, so I know most of the past and current builders.

A very impressive group - in talent and dedication to quality!!

HEY RAY!!!!
Glad to see you still own the Beast!
I've been at powertrain HQ now for 2 years. GM has some good things for the future in the works & I'm happy to still be a part of it...

Enjoy your Z!!

Hi Ray (and alla you Z06'ers),

Don't know if you've seen this, but here's a link to an LS9 engine build article that was on Jalopnik.com. I know, it's not Z06 material, but the build process is very similar. For those of you that have never been to Wixom PBC, here's a chance to indulge your curiousity.

Mike Priest is featured in the article. Yours truly is on slide 55.

PS: Ray - You sure look familiar - think I remember your visit.

My guess would be that Chuck has built more LS7's than anyone else. He did a consistently great job! He was a hard working son of a gun and a pleasure to work with.
Brian Bogerdinger(sp?) built my 07. He only built 4 LS7's. He built an 06 a solid year prior to mine. Any particular reason why some build a lot more than others?

The numbers listed are only the builds that were posted by owners on this Forum - not the total actually built. The number posted is actually a pretty small percentage of the total built. Therefore, each builder has built many more than are shown. I'm sure Brian built hundreds of engines at Wixom.

On an average day, each builder produces 2+ engines. On a normal year, that could equal 500 or more engines, depending on overtime, vacations, off line assignments, etc. So it's a pretty small number that show up here. It would be nice if more owners posted their engines, not sure why they don't...Seems like many dealers don't even know about Corvette Forum.

Hope you're enjoying your Z06!!

Bob Trommater was also previously listed as Robert Trommater.
Totals were combined to show one listing per person.
This will likely be a future issue due to varied naming on builders tags.

R.H. Booker, Paul Kaufeld, John Ketchum, Mike Klamo, and Gary Phillips have all recently transferred to GM Powertrain Engineering.

Congratulations and thanks for all you've both done at Wixom!

The engine in my 2007 Z06 was built by Barry Dennis.
It was #7 off the line on Monday, Oct 9th 2006.
It purrs like a kitten until I press the loud pedal.
Thanks Barry

The "Builder's of Wixom" posters only ran for 2 years and ended when I left Wixom in 2007. At the time, no one else wanted to take on the program. Some of the present builders are going to try and start it up again. I hope that they will still involve the Ronald McDonald House of Ann Arbor as the donation recipient for the posters...
The poster program raised over $10,000 for the RMH plus, we donated a poster signed by all the builders to the forum's online auction for the St. Jude Children's Hospital and raised $1000 from the one poster!!!

Sounds like a good program all around, someone needs to pick up the torch on this and run with it BTW anyone know how to read my tracebility #? I figured one of you guys would be good for that!
