Default Saw a C6 race at Englishtown

Dave Busch, from Cartek, brought his virgin C6 coupe to the Corvette Challenge today and made a few runs on the 1/4 mile. Most of the run's I saw were around 13.4's, though bear in mind that the surface was hot and the DA was poor (~2000?). I also think that Dave was still getting use to the shifter in this new car.

The best they got out of it was a 13.1@109. Still needs to be broken in a little and some cooler air would really help with the ET.

Man, that's disappointing. 109? Eh, oh well, it is still hot and the car is new.

The race weight was 3450. The torque management is bad. I had a lot of problems trying to do a burn out. Yes the traction control was turned off. It still drives like it is on.

Has anyone else gotten a faster time at the track yet?-- with a C6 obviously?

Hopefully it won't be long before we start seeing some packages for the C6...

Not to speak for Dave... but he did mention that they (Cartek) already have an electronic module to bypass it (obviously not yet installed in this car). I wonder how big of an issue this will be for the average C6 driver who doesn't want to mod his car but wants to occasionally run at the dragstrip.

Uhhh... it's the same basic motor as the ls1/ls6 so the heads and cams out right now will all bolt up, but just to a 6.0 block.

So just the bore/stroke are different? It will still be a while before a catback system is ready for it, looks like there may be a set of headers out right now that fit it, "LS2 Edit" still isn't available yet...are the intake and the throttle body the same? What about the drivetrain? I would think it is a little different. The suspension may be different as well...hmmm...but if you say they're the same...

All they did is bore it out to a even 6.0... same as the 6.0 chevy truck motor. The heads are polished ls6 heads, the cam is the same spec as my '01 Z06 and the intake manifold has been upgraded to use a 90mm throttle-body.

So they have torque management on a 6sp? I thought it was only on the A4's?

There are a lot of changes to the engine. Just about all the sensors have been moved. This will affect which parts will work and which won't. We will be going through every thing to find out.

Yes there is torque management on 6spd cars. Any one that has tuned with edit can tell you about all the different tables. There is almost no difference in performance with the traction control turned off! We will be testing a module that will eliminate it.

I ran the 2005 Carlisle Callaway Corvette Project car this weekend at Beech Bend raceway this weekend at the best time we got was a 13.0 at 109 mph - totally stock. We will be running the car at the drags up here in CT this week again for another baseline run. I'll keep you posted if we break the 13 barrier.

I'm not certain where the track is located (I know there are 2 tracks - both approximately 1 1/2 hour away from Old Lyme). Trust me, I'm anxious to wake this car up! I test drove the Z06 Callaway today - it's running strong 11.3 @ 126 mph. I had a blast, now I'm ready for mine to "woken up"... he he.
