Cobra is great. The point was that both the STi and Vette add up in price to what a Viper is, and in their categories they are the best bang for the buck. Yea, I'd love to have a Cobra and a vette too, over a viper. Either way, you can get two unbelievable cars for the price of one Viper. Now that's sayin somethin. Is the Viper really so great, that it's worth a Vette and STi? I could take a Vette and add $30k worth of mods and have a car that would blow the frickin doors off a Viper. For that matter, I could take $10k. And the Vette is better looking.

I think it'll depend on driver. For the Z06 that is. We'll have to see with the fabled "Blue Devil" super-vette if it ever comes out.

Well, really this thread is about comparing based on the facts already out there about the C6, and also peoples' opinions mixed in. Thanks for letting us know the C6 doesn't exist.

i have a 00 coupe with a auto, i have yet been beat by a 04 viper at the track, also never seen a stock viper 04 run 11.80's , i run 11.60's and 70's and i spank them all day. , best stock trim viper ran 11.96

Huh? You have got to be kidding. I own a C3, and to say the Viper is a C3 ripoff is, well, far out there.

If it is a bad C3 ripoff, its AWFUL. Kinda like how its an AWFUL Honda Civic ripoff

The Viper's mission has always been to have as much HP as possible without worrying too much about creature comforts. The Vette does not follow this approach. It is going to be pretty easy for Dodge to squeeze more HP out of a 500 cu-inch motor. I do not expect the C6 Z06 to spank the Viper, but if it does happen the first year I expect Dodge to raise the bar immediately.

Man, I must have gotten a real deal.....I bought a fully loaded 98 coupe in 2000 with only 6000 miles and I only paid $36,000 for it off of a car lot.

Look at the profile, the hood, the fenders, the door handles, the engine, relatively well balanced with a big engine. Seriously put a viper nose on an 74-75 and you get your SRT-10.

Sorry but the ZO6 is not even close to the Viper GTS or SRT10. You are looking at 450hp and 500 foot pounds of torque for the GTS and 500hp and 500 ft pounds. Look at the trap speeds of the Viper in the quarter mile. It's something like 119 compared to 113 on the ZO6. That doesn't sound like much but it is a lot. The Viper has a V10 and that gives it the edge. You can do anything to a Viper that you can a Vette. Don't get me wrong, I use to own a GTS and now I own a ZO6, I like the ZO6 better for ease of driving. The big thing the Vettes have is that there is more of them and so modding them is easier and cheaper.

Not a thing. I think that is just an excuse to somehow justify how many styling similiarities there are between the C6 and SRT-10. If anything, the SRT-10 looks like a S2000 on roids.

The new z will spank the current srt-10 hands down but who knows about the new viper coupe? This is why we need a super vette.
