Default tech 2

New to C6's. Just bought a 2005. What is the best diagnostic tool and what do they do. Can they refresh the computer for the steering column lock problem or will I still have to go to the dealer.

There is no really “best”…some may do different things than others…that’s why I have all of these below…LOL !!…5 are scan tools but one is purely for diagnostics…the ATS EScan Elite…if you intend to use it different automotive platforms a good aftermarket scan tool like Autel, Launch, or Bosch are good…getting a bidirectional one is a must if you want to diagnose your car instead of bringing it to a dealer who will just replace parts…if just for your Corvette you can go for a “Chinese Clone” Tech 2 or a VXDIAG VCX NANO which sometimes can be glitchy with the software.

Can you use it to bleed the brakes or reflash the computer for the steering lock. Just going to use it on my C6. I have a scanning tool for all others.

This is what I am looking for. http://www.obd2tool.com/goods-10563-...M-Scanner.html

Yes, you can do both !!…Tech 2’s serial port adapter connects to your laptop and the Tech 2 and your Tech 2 will be connected to the car so the software will be downloaded to the Tech 2 and then downloaded to the car in basic terms.

If your laptop does not have a RS232 port, then will need to get a usb cable that can connect the hand held to the laptop on a usb port for sps use.

Here,
https://www.automationdirect.com/adc...bles/usb-rs232

Or here,
Amazon Amazon

If building a TIS2000 install on windows 7 VM machine, then will need the software driver for the shell for the USB cable to work with it.

As for downside of hand held verse nano, nano is a MDI clone that any of the GM software is loaded to laptop, so nano able to run the newer GDS2 software for laster cars as well (all the way up to current C8 vets, and back to cars that did start to use the Tech2win soft. With hand held.its loaded with tech2win only, only works on the C6 and older cars that use Tech2win alone.

I bought the VXDIAG VCX NANO to relearn the crank sensor after installing a referb ECM worked great. Yes the software must be installed in sequence on your laptop for it to work properly.
C5 Diagnostic I like your toys!
