07 Z code p0336 need help
Went on vacation, car battery wasn't strong enough to start the car. Charged battery, car started w some hesitancy. Tach is not working on dash or heads up. Car seems to be running rough. Got a pending code of p 0336 on my scanner.
any ideas on how to get the car back to normal ?
Is the crank position sensor hard to replace without a lift ? Where is it ? Drivers or passenger side ?
is it safe to drive the car ? I need to work tomorrow 😩 been a tough day, blew 2 tires on the way home in the wifes car and it added 4 or 5 hrs more driving time on. Now this ..
. battery is good but doesn't like to sit for a week +
I read that the low voltage and slow starting could have thrown the code also... ??

Most likely a bad crankshaft position sensor OR it’s wiring…sensor sits above the starter so it’s not easy to change…starter has to be removed…watching for Tach movement during cranking is an easy tip to help determine if the sensor is bad…you have no spark and injector pulse so the car won’t start…the car is running rough because the sensor provides the engine computer when to fire spark and the fuel.

It is common to get a P0336 code for the CKP when the engine cranks slowly. This is because the reluctor wheel is rotating so slowly that the PCM interprets this as the CKP not functioning as it should. I wouldn't waste time with the CKP at this stage. Focus on getting your engine to crank at normal speed, and the P0336 code will go away.
