Default clutch pedal will not return

pulled a hard shift 1-2 and pedal stayed on the floor. only 2 blocks from house after a 60 mi. cruise .100 degrees here today. could the fluid break down to cause this or is this a common problem . 37k on the car. 2013 427 vert.

This is a known common problem. Could be dirty clutch fluid and you need to flush the system. Try the ranger method if you don't have a speed bleeder. You will have to manually pull the pedal from the floor.

Other possibilities are that the master cylinder went out, or the slave cylinder went out.

Default clutch master cylinder

removed and torn down master cylinder. found cheep pressed on retainer had popped off the end of the piston. cannot believe gm put this part on this most important piece of equipment.wonder how many accidents this has caused. makes you wonder if the same part is on the end of the brake piston.. same piece of hardware holds the wheels on a childs little red wagon.

Glad you found the problem. Not a bad idea to upgrade to a Tick master.

Remove the clutch over center spring as well. It'll give you a more consistent clutch pedal and the pedal won't shoot to the floor if that happens again.

Background : I installed a new clutch (everything) except the Master Cylinder because the Tick bore is larger and I wanted a light clutch feel -- which I have.

So a question, do you need the over center stock spring ? Does it keep pressure off the throw out bearing and shift forks, or does it not matter? From what I've read the TICK Performance does NOT NEED a clutch return spring, but what about the stock system ?

They did a recall on this. You might want to go down to your dealer and get the new and improved one since you have it out. It has a all black reservoir.

Chevy would have covered this 100% under the TSB 14717

Default clutch master cylinder

done easy fix disconnect battery and it resets clutch pos. sensor. im up and running again . i want to thank all for your help . by the way the dealership here in va. beach is the last resort. there are few real mechanics left in the present workforce. only { so called technicians } can only do what the computer tells them .its a shame. i had new tires mounted recently here at r? chevrolet took 2 men 8 hrs. [ 4 tires] i watched them they over inflated all tires 10-16 psi. and when i went to remove the front left tire and wheel to access the master cylinder i had to use a 3 ft. piece of pipe on a 1/2 breaker bar wtf. .all this on my zr1 rims .i loosened and retorqued all . makes you wonder what the shop forman was doing.

That's great news! I though I was going to be the bearer of bad news.
