Default Has anyone found lowering bolts that are durable?

I have my C6 lowered as far as it can go on stock bolts but it still isn't enough and I'm considering lowering bolts but when I do a search it seems that a lot of the aftermarket lowering bolts simply do not last very long at all. Does anyone make a lowering bolt for our cars yet that are durable and can take the abuse without having to be replaced every 5000 miles?

Ideally I'd like to come down about another half inch up front and another inch in the back (making the total drop from stock about 1.5 in front and 2 in the back, I hate the raked look it has now)

I did not cut the bushings on the rear bolts by the way, but would consider that as an alternative if durable aftermarket bolts just aren't out there and if it would lower the rear noticeably.

This is how my car currently sits:

I'm lowered on stock bolts with bushings cut.

If I could have that stance with stock bolts I'd be perfectly happy but as you can see from my pics, mine is nowhere near that level, especially in the rear. I have seen a ton of pics of C6s lowered on stock bolts that look way lower than mine

I have a couple of questions, has the suspension settled sense you've lowered it? Second why not cut the rubber off of the lowering bolts, this will give you the stance you want?

Yes, the suspension has most definitely fully settled, as the car has been lowered for three years now I don't believe cutting the rubber off the rear bolts will be enough, as I really do think the rear needs to come down at least another inch.

I don't have a lot of miles on them, but have you looked into Hardbar bolts? They are made of delrin. Although countless people have done it, when I cut one rib off my stock bolts, it exposed metal.

Looks like Hardbar might be next to impossible to find. Google "vansteel" and in their search box type in "composite spring adjusters"

You have to cut it correctly to leave rubber on there. From the bottom of the bolt you have a steel pad, rubber spacer, steel pad, rubber spacer, then the steel base of the bolt. You want to cut just above the steel so it leaves the rubber spacer.

Unless they are some unique style bolt, lookup Osh hardware near you. They have every size grade 5. 8 bolt imaginable. Couple dollars

It's called a bolt but it is not close to a std bolt other than it has threads.

This is the best you can buy. I have these on my car now:

https://www.vmsracing.com/products/0...ss-steel-bolts

They articulate so the pad always maintains 100% contact with the suspension arm. They won't squish and mangle like the stock bolt rubber.

I've had them on my Z for a few months and I'm happy. They lower the car ALOT more than the stock bolts. Even at the highest setting, they are pretty low. Sounds like you want to go low though, so these would be a good choice for you.

^^
That sounds just what I'm looking for, thank you! They are sold out right now but hopefully they'll be back in stock shortly.

Any pics of your Z with them?

You can also get them at these links. They seem to have gone up in price since I bought them last year...

Here's some pics. Sorry they look like they were taken with a potato. I haven't had the bolts and new wheels on my car long and these are all I have (she's back in storage). The fronts are probably lowered about 66% on these bolts, the rears probably 75-80%. So it could definitely go lower. I have 19" wheels front and back. I can barely get 1 finger in between the tire and fender in the rear. Hope this helps.

I have the VMS bolts and they are junk IMO. Going to be pulling them asap.

I saw your previous posts and other than 1 coming a little loose, why do you say they are junk? And by junk do you mean more or less "junk" than other aftermarket bolts?

Haven't tried other brands, so can't comment.

They won't stay in place and in <3k miles are making noise.
