Default 2 y/o R compound tires still good performance?

How much does age effect R compound tires (R888)? Lots of tread left ....but what about Thier age 1.5 - 2 y/o?

Pics for reference...

I don't think tires "dry out" and I don't think 1-2 years is old. my last set of Kumho's was almost 5 years old without noticeably affecting performance, now that my 06 is not a DD I'm going to softer tires also, go spank it a little bit look at the tires?

it depends on the storage condition. if you know race tires once they are up to temp is easy to tell if they are working.

They should be fine for a couple more years. In my experience, the r888's start degrading after 6-8 track days, but you will not notice for street use.

Still better for street use than a new aggressive street tire?

They look very similar to mine with several track days. They are still great tires to abuse until my inspection is due in 2 months.

Would they still hook well (600whp)? Tires I have now (getting low on tread) handle great....just can't hook the power (Yokohama ad08)

They should hook better, but it's hard to say without knowing their exact condition. They won't work miracles with 600hp. At 500hp I don't spin the tires.
