Default Time to Replace Hoses & Belts on a 2006?

Car was built at the end of 2005, is it good preventive maintenance to replace the belts and hoses now?

Any idea of what the parts & labor might be?

Thanks

I had a radiator and water pump done along with all hoses and the hoses alone cost approximately $300. Half the labor was about $380 so, I'd expect JUST hoses would be less than that. Even if it was half of that it still means about $450-$500 for radiator and water pump hoses. That's just a wild guess though on my part but it's at least a data point for you.

Mine was built about the same time. New belt when I replaced the balancer. Hoses are a good question. My car has 16K on it and I use rubber and vinyl cleaner on them and they still look new and don't appear to have any soft spots, so I am going to wait.

Hoses can wear on the inside, hard to tell.

Your right! I think that I am going to get a set of silicone hoses and replace them this winter. 10 years is most likely borrowed time.

I replaced my hoses and belts when I changed out a leaking water pump. That was at 30K miles or so. I also went with the silicone hoses. Did the change out myself, so it was only the cost of the materials. I'm now at 70 K miles, so I will change the belts again in the fall.
I bought the belts from GM, the silicone hoses from a forum vendor, and the water pump from a forum member that did not need it.
Total cost was less than $500.00

Not to hijack thread, but I've read of others with many makes of cars eventually having the "water on the passenger side floor" which is usually traced to a bad heater core. Is that due to rotting core and old antifreeze, or rotting hoses to the heater core?

Since the hoses don't go into the cabin, my bet is that it is the heater core. I use Water Wetter to keep my coolant maintained to try and avoid heater core and radiator issues. I did say try.......

Except you Tim, you have more money then you know what to do with it!

For those interested in silicone hoses, I got mine direct from the manufacturer instead of paying dealer/vendor mark up. Very helpful manufacturer, they further don't gouge on shipping and shipped to me in Hawaii using USPS.

Furthermore, don't use conventional hose clamps, worm gear turning in cut thru band will mutilate the soft silicone hose's outer jacket. I use Marine Grade ABBA 316 series hose clamp. ABBA is expensive. It is cheapest at Downwind Marine in San Diego.
