Here's my thread with pics from 8 years ago.

My QTP Cutouts are still going strong, and I use them just about every time I drive the car. I love the way they sound outside of the car and in the car, very deep, much deeper than NPP.

This was his first C6 and he found a great place to put them and made the custom mandrel bent Y-pipes to maximize flow from the cutouts. We found no way to put them right after the collectors but they fit well by the trans. I have the DTE brace too but it wasn't in the way.

Installed the wiring myself along the drivers side rocker panel, behind seat then out the wheel well under the carpet. Removed the rear inner fender and drilled a small hole in the wheel well then ran the wire down to the cutouts. Hardest part is finding a hot wire when the ignition is on on these C6's. I ended up tapping the seat heater fuse as others here have done.

They are loud and DEEP when open at idle. I've actually heard louder exhaust though, I was kind of surprised they are not louder. I think it is because of the turn downs and the fact that I have cats and the pipes are pretty long before the cutouts. On the track they have a nice race car sound - I'd say like Borla Stingers plus 25%. When you open them at a stoplight you will turn heads, that's for sure.

Overall happy with the mod, it gives me quiet during my morning drive but loud when I'm at the track which is what I wanted.

Here is a video of idle with cutouts open and closed. The gain on the mike makes the closed sound much louder than it is, it's really quiet with factory mufflers even with my cam.

Here are some pics:

Hello,

This is my 2006 A6 cutout install. Sounds great and makes the car loud or quiet at my discretion.

I like this. I dont think i have that much room right there. I mounted mine under the transmission but want to put a plate in so the heat stays off the transmission while they are open.

Similar to Joe's but mine are the 3" low profile QTP's on a 3" Z06 mid pipe. Basically just before they mate to the over the axle pipes.

this is how mine is set up. How long have you been running this set up? notice the trans getting to hot when running with them open?

About a year now. I can't say I have noticed.

I've been running my cutouts since 2007 (almost 8 years to the day matter of fact) and I have a diff temp gauge and trans temp gauge on my car.

Neither temp is affected by the cutouts being open.

Only thing to be careful of is you must direct the exhaust away from your leaf spring (most folks like Bill and I) direct the exhaust to the ground which is no problem (and sounds cool). If you blow the hot exhaust on the fiberglass leaf spring it will eventually fail and you'll find your car sitting on the bump stops one day.

KB9GKC's solution won't work if you have headers, the collectors go where his cutouts are.

I never thought about that, my only concern has been my transmission. I will make sure i keep an eye on my leaf when im under the car working.
