Help Please 05 C6 has gone mad it seems
Am spending summer in Prescott, AZ Rainy season now.
My car has recently done the following:
TPMS says low tires, goes off after driving a while. 30 psi all tires.
Service Active Handling comes on sometimes on startup and often when accelerating or stopping. Next startup usually resets.
Cruise Control has become intermittent. works most times but often not.
Yesterday failed to start and error message was apply brake to start.Had brake on and brake lights were coming on. Let car sit 30mins and started normally.
I had the clip installed on the steering position sensor at GM a while back.
Cleaned and inspected batt cables, has new Optima red top batt.
Haven't pulled codes with scan tool because don't know how to have a setuation where ign is on and engine is off.
Any solutions short of a dealer visit would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. I drive this car daily and need to depend on it.

I have 05, and had all kinds of issues, so I replaced the battery all issues gone.
Don't forget if you replace the battery re-index the windows.

Don't know why they couldn't just use a damn key on these cars, annoying to have to hold the button for 5-10 seconds every time you want it in the "on" mode, along with all the "no fob detected" issues etc.

Have battery checked for condition and charge. Just because the battery is "new" does not mean it is in good charged condition. Try leaving your doors open for awhile and see what happens to your "new" battery.
2005 C6's are extremely sensitive to voltage. Battery must be in great shape are a number of strange codes/DTC's will follow.

That's awesome! My fuel return system sometimes gets cranky and doesn't build pressure enough, takes a crank or 2. I, hoping this may be a way to help save some wear on my starter. Gracias!

Thanks to all for the great advice, especially the way to turn ign on without starting engine. I tried that and the standing voltage indicated on dash gauge showed less than 10 volts. Car started anyway and is now getting batt checked and all the frame ground connections inspected by a
qualified tech, not at a dealer. Will advise re. outcome.
Great group on this forum.

I would pull up the passenger footwell carpet where you will find the 2nd fuse block. There are two big blue connectors going into it. If one is loose, it can cause everything to go nuts. Pull them and re-seat them. If it fixes things, then pull them and spray the contacts with contact cleaner.

Resolved I think
Could be a lot of us learned a little something from this event.
The tech determined that the culprit in this case is the Brake Pedal Position Sensor (brake light switch?). He has ordered one to be here in two days or so.
Broken sensor has at least two modes now:
Always on: engine starts ok, cruise control doesn't work, doesn't set
Service Active Handling message, brake lights stay on and
can start it without pressing brake.
Always off: will not start sometimes even with brake pressed, sets
messages for active handling.
That's it so far will report when sensor is replaced.
Thanks again everyone.

Brake Pedal Position sensor had broken mounting bolt allowing it to flop around and cause all kinds of trouble. Was apparently over tightened at the last installation.
Thanks again to all.
