If I install aftermarket headers, do I need to purchase a x pipe from kooks/lg/melrose or whomever or can I use a 08 and up midpipe? Im currently out of town and I am taking this time to order all my parts in before I get home and realize I missed some thing.

You need the matching x. That's not to say you may be able to somehow configure the factory but it's not worth the hassle.

I have Billy Boat headers and it bolts up to the stock exhaust. Many are like that, but if you want to install cats, the answer is yes. To be legal you need cats, but since the cats are not in the stock location, you are in violation, so it doesn't matter if you have them or not.
