Default 2012 GrandSport Cam

I'm looking for a cam for my car and am curious to the stock tolerances of the valvetrain. At what point do I need to buy a cam kit that includes springs and pushrods?

I'm far from an expert, but GM sells a version of the LS3 with their "hot cam" that uses the stock springs and such. Every engine builder that specs something bigger normally recommends upgrading the springs.

I had a feeling it was almost a "best practice" to do the cam kit anytime you replace a stock cam.

Yes, definetely the best thing to do too. The LS3 cam has some pretty aggressive specs for a stock cam anyway, i.e. .550 lift, cannot remember the rest, best to do a custom cam.
