60 ft times need improving!!
Has anyone experienced poor sixty foot times with their a6. Im making 490hp and 489 torque to rear wheels but my 60s are in the 1.5 range. Im running the et streets with the wrinkle wall wondering if that's the problem. The radial slicks went 1.45 with less horse power or is it just this time of the year. when the heat kills the track. ive tried different air and different launch rpms. but its pretty much the same. Was wondering if anyone changed their rear shocks for better traction.........I have a yank 4000 so converter is not an issue,

tried 1200 1700 2000 2200 car spins just enough with the new power, thinking about a different pair of rear shocks. but don't know if they can be swapped out with the magnetic ride in the car.. Car normaly like 2200 but with the new heads and the 55 lbs of torque its spinning the et streets bias ply, maybe my burout is too much....

the stock shocks have been 1.3s and even a 1.2s 60 ft, I would try different tires, try the drag radial. mine spins to braking over 2000 depending on track prep, I tried qa1s no help was worse, put the stock back on the front but did leave the backs on, but never able to launch higher it will go up in smoke, even with new dr hoosiers 17x275x40, yet stanger could ft brake his to 3800 and hook with the stock shocks

- 315/35/17 or 275/40/17 Hoosier drag radials on C5 Z06 front wheels
- 18.5psi measured before each pass, not just when you first get to the track
- 5-6 second burnout
- load up the converter around 2000RPM
- foot on gas and hold on
I'm making around 600rwhp and cut 1.3 60ft times all day long while only launching at 1900RPM. The car I just bought used to cut low 1.4 60fts launching at around 2100RPM (while it still had an LS2 in it) even though it was only making about 440rwhp so you should easily be able to run those kind of numbers too.

While an adjustable shock like the ones I'm using (QA1 double adjustables on all four corners) will help, they're not completely necessary.
Assuming there's even moderately decent track prep, if this doesn't get you into the 1.4s I'll buy the whole setup from you and keep it on hand as spares:
- 315/35/17 or 275/40/17 Hoosier drag radials on C5 Z06 front wheels
- 18.5psi measured before each pass, not just when you first get to the track
- 5-6 second burnout
- load up the converter around 2000RPM
- foot on gas and hold on

I run my car with the same air in the tires that you do, I do a burn out till I see haze coming off the tires then I power to the starting line. But the tire has to be the difference im using mt et street bias ply, Used to have drag radials but thought this would be better. I have 11 x 17s on the back and a set of gtp spares on the front. Best et with new heads and 489 torque and 490 hsp rear wheels is 1.535 @ 11.000 /126.68. so its got to be the tires. radials with less horsepower went 1.45 10.92 125.2 in cool weather making 434 and 433. I do realize its hot in south Louisiana but can feel car spinning leaving around1800 even tried 2000 et same sixty foot 1.538
The other great feature with the Hoosiers is that they'll actually rehook if you get some spin on the initial launch. I ran Mickey Thompson drag radials for years but if I didn't hook properly the run was pretty much over right then and there.

I went through the exact same thing as you a few years ago, thinking the ET Streets would be a better tire as they were more "slick like". That however turned out to be a failed experiment as the traction was noticeably worse, they had a higher rolling resistance and depending on what your trap is, can get a little "interesting" going through the traps if you're running radials up front.
The other great feature with the Hoosiers is that they'll actually rehook if you get some spin on the initial launch. I ran Mickey Thompson drag radials for years but if I didn't hook properly the run was pretty much over right then and there.

I don't know what the DA was for you, but my last outing produced some 1.49's to 1.52's with launches anywhere from 1500 to 3000. Best pass was 10.92 @ 125.26 in 2100' DA. I also have a 4000 Yank and F55, but running Hoosier 275 DR's. The most recent dyno showed 411, although I suspect it's really closer to 440.
It sounds like tires may be the problem, although high DA can kill power easily. Do a comparison of some old slips with the latest to get DA compensated numbers on Dragtimes.com

Was that with stock internals? Did you also do a cam when you did heads?

that was with a 228/228 588 588 texas speed cam, with minor port work to the 799 heads with cai fast90 and 342 rear gears. The new heads have all out port work , 2.55vales int/1.57 intakes and milled .37 for 1 point of compression. with a eps 236/242 630 609 camshaft
