Default Major trans/diff/coupler issue, need help!

Driving home from dinner, rolled into it in first and paddle shifted into second around 5k rpm and it popped and rev'd. Then sounds like rotational flopping. I thought I broke a half shaft or something.

Looked under the car and no sign of anything. Putting it into drive or reverse gives like winding type sound, not really grinding.

Haven't even put a full tank through the car since I got it, and now this!

Could it be the torque tube, or couplers? Just hoping its not a full trans build, or diff.

Jack up the rear and try spinning each wheel while the car's still in park. If both wheels spin freely then you broke the output shaft in the transmission, if only one spins you likely broke a halfshaft.

Ok, I am going to have it towed to a shop and ill give that a try. Either way not good!

Is this common? The car only has a catback, so it isnt making crazy power.

Does it make the noise while the car is running while in park?

Definitely not common unless you had wheelhop or something (which is common). Good luck and let us know what you find.

No noise in park or neutral.

No wheel hop, and traction control was on.

Well went to the parking lot where the car is, and it seems to be a half shaft down at the driverside wheel. Can spin the wheel in park, but the half shaft doesn't spin. Seems like its right down at the spindle.

It is common for the 05-08 C6 CV axles to twist off right after the outer spline. Replace the axles with C5 units and forget about it.

Well, got it all put back together last night. Pretty straight forward, but it was 108 here yesterday which made it less than enjoyable

Seems like a fairly typical break, replaced it with a C5z which will hopefully stand up to my massive amount of stock with a catback horsepower!!!!

Looks like it was a good chance to wrench on the car at least. That part is fun, except for the being hot as can be outside!

Yeah, only had the car a couple weeks so it was good to get "acquainted". Just the not the best conditions. I did sweat out about 2lbs though
