Lingenfelter GT19 Cam in LS2
I called Lingenfelter and asked their tech if they have a cam for a LS2 that is similar to a GT-21 due to the fact I like the lope of the engine. I'm looking for a rough idle camshaft with a big lope.
They suggested the GT-19 would be my best bet. Does this seem to be a good choice for such a small cube motor? Has anybody used this cam in a motor other than a LS7? Do I need to modify my pistons in a LS2? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

That cam is going to have .640/.650 lift with LS2 rocker arms. That's more lift that I'd want to fool with in any application. Get Pat G to spec you a cam. He'll use some milder, more valve train friendly lobes and I'm quite sure he can make it lope to your heart's content. The lope comes from the duration and LSA. Crazy high lift has little effect on lope.

$1k for spring kit..... sure, I'll jump right on that.
Contact PatG or call Kip at Cam Motions for a good stable valvetrain that still makes power. FWIW, Cam Motion grinds the ESP cams

I agree I'd pass on those lobes and the overlap is going to give you the lope, which that cam only has 5* @.050". The valve events are better suited for an LS3, as you don't need that much of a split with the I/E flow ratio of the LS2 heads imho.

I watched this video and fell in the love with the sound and want to reproduce it in a LS2.

If you are looking for a specific sound, along with the cam, you should also consider your muffler choices. I have long tubes a decent sized cam in my LS2 and I went through 5 exhaust systems before settling on Z06 modded mufflers & NPP in a box to get the sound that I preferred.

That idle is to tame for my taste. It looks like I need to have something custom ground specific to a LS2 valve train.

That cam has 27* of overlap, I'd recommend driving something of that nature before deciding on it. The rule of thumb is 50 ci can soak up ~8* more cam, so in an LS2 you'd need ~20* of overlap. That means something along the lines of the largest cams ground ie MS4 size. Idle speed, compression and exhaust as mentioned make a big difference ie the same two cams in two engines one with stock compression, cats and stock mufflers at 1000rpms vs. a point higher compression, no cats and aftermarket mufflers at 750rpms is going to sound dramatically different.
I love NPP as you can completely control the tone and have no drone while cruising!

You can have a good sounding cam without going apesh!t with the overlap and lope thing. I wouldn't want to fool with anything over 10 degrees of overlap on a stock cubed LS2 or 3.

Everyone needs to have a black car, a convertible, and a crazy large cam.....at least once....and for most people, it's only once. I can't fault someone for wanting a cam like that. Some actually like it long term. Most tire of it and swap it out for something with better manners.
