PRC Stage 2.5 LS6 CNC Ported Heads, LS1 LS2 243
Hey Guys I need some input please. I just picked up a 05 c6 mn6.. I am planning on do some mods on a budget. The car will be a street driven weekend toy basically. So I am gathering parts. I found a set of heads that I can pick up, for $900 bucks used set of PRC 243 Stage 2.5 LS6 CNC Ported Heads. 243 casting, Double valve springs, 2.02"/1.575" Valves, 64cc is the info he gave to me . I am looking to be around the 450+ rwhp range. Once I get everything I need then I will have it installed all together. So the parts I have so far is listed below. The heads I get will determine what cam I use...( I guess, so your input is helpful) once all installed then it will be dyno tuned. Here are some pictures of the heads he sent.
1. OBX longtube 1 7/8 headers w/ cats and xpipe these were cheap So I bought them new.
2. XSpower Axle back 2.5 inch
3 vararam cai intake
4. intake will either be a radical port stock ls2 or a fast 102. ( I need to figure this out also) I want it to best bang for the buck. I probably will stay with a stock throttle body just ported.
5. ATI UD 10 or 25% don't remember which one

Whenever buying a used set of heads, the FIRST thing that needs to be done is having them dropped off at a reputable machine shop for the following services:
-Pull all valves and check for warpage & possible guide wear
-Hot tank cleaned (or however they clean heads, varies per state due to osha regs)
-Deck refurface, at least .003 to ensure a completely flat deck
-Valve spring pressure check
-Casting pressure check to make sure there's no cracks in the casting
Forgoing any of those checks and potentially cost you a lot of money. I've seen it too many times in this business.
That said, by the time those checks are done, the $900 really isn't such a good deal. I'd try to buy them at a lower price or move over to a set of CNC'd Advanced Induction castings.
Good luck!

For an economical head with good results try the PRC 225 As Cast or TFS 220 As Cast. Don't waste your money on ANY ported factory LS2 intake manifold.
