Default Fuel cap door will not stay closed?

I haven't tried fixing it yet but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced the same issue as I.
As I was driving one afternoon I noticed my fuel cap door was opened. Thinking my knee possibly hit the button. So I closed it , then a few miles and bumps later it opened again. Kept doing that until it got to the point that it will not stay closed at all now ? What would you guys recommend I look into first to fix this minor issue? Thx

Adjust the pull cable in the hatch area. Make sure the little button that holds the cap closed is fully extended.

Happened to me a while back... info in this thread may help you:

In my case, the spring inside the actuator had to be replaced. Pulled the left rear wheel and fender liner, pulled the actuator out, and replaced with a spring I found at Home Depot. I just bought one of those packages of assorted springs and one of them worked just fine.
