Check out the April issue of GM HighTech Performance, they did a series of cam swaps on a Ls3.
The first one bigger than stock that they tested was a Brian Tooley Racing cam, 224/232° .624/.590" on 113°LSA.

It mirrored the stock dyno curve, just higher. No loss in torque anywhere. The 113° LSA should give you a little lope. The idle vacuum was the same as stock, as was the cranking compression. This indicates good street manners.
Peak power was up over 50hp, peak torque was up 23ftlb with no less than 20ftlb across the entire 3000-6500rpm power pull.

Check it out.

Is your car an A6 or manual? This will dictate what cam would be best....

If you're a manual car, the Spinmonster cam is great. It's even pretty boost friendly if you go that route down the line, ask me how I know...

I just pulled a pretty mild PATG cam which got me just short of 490rwhp. Only thing other than stock for the LS3 was a set of LG headers.

If interested, I'll know in a week or two whether I keep it or sell.

LG6X3 is a nasty sounding cam. You need to be ready to have your valve springs changed around 15,000 miles or so with a big cam.

We have plenty of "book cams" and then we have custom grinds. Any individual will gain more from a custom grind as it is more fitted for what they are looking for, and we have them for $385. Cheaper than most off shelf cams. The best part of a street cam is the tq, and we believe in that. We can make them sound mean or tame and still pull like a freight train.
Give us a shout!

Contact PatG/Geoff@EPS or Brian Tooley. They have consistently shown themselves to be the best in the business.

I have a PatG/EPS 230/238 .629/.629 112+3

Overlap will generally determine idle and drivability. My cam has an overlap of 10* which is still street friendly with a good tune. The car pulls very good across the entire rev range. PatG/EPS have made a reputation out of having lobes that make good power while maintaining valve train stability and reliability.

45-145 pull:

There are even newer lobe designs out now that do even more. That is what we use.

Default Cam

There are plenty of grinds and even more opinions . Go custom . Call Geoff at eps . The cam will be garranteed to be ground within 1/2 degree of the numbers on cam card . Very simple process . I have a bolt on g/s . I made 517 rwhp with a mild cam through the pfadt cats . It sounds and performs as I asked for . When you order your cam it can be Taylored to your driving style , goals and your car .

In on this thread!

I am doing a cam soon to my 08 ls3 also. I was gonna go with a "shelf" cam but my tuner talked me out of it. We're doing a custom grind cam and I'm eager to to see how it turns out. I'm shooting for 500rwhp with bolt ons and cam.

Really? Who doesn't grind LS cams

Lunati
Isky
Bullet
Crower
Schneider
Howards
GM
just to name a few

Forgot Crane

And then there's the smaller custom shops

Based on experience, I wouldn't deal with EPS.

If someone is wanting an EPS type grind, Cam Motion, their grinder, has a profile that is very, very, similar to the EPS profile.
