Default Transmission Problems?

Ok. 2 sunday's ago i woke up to a big what looked like oil spot in my driveway. Monday when i went to work before I took the car in i had trouble getting the car into reverse & the gear changes weren't right. The car is a 2007 auto convertible, tho i drive it in the manual mode. I took the car in on my lunch break & my god was it an ordeal. When I left the car would barley move. Every start & stop was like launching a rocket. Finally i dropped the car off. The other day the service guy called me & said my transmission fluid line broke & they were gonna fix it, & that my extended warranty i purchased when i bought the car in 2012 would cover the replacement.

Today he called me to inform me they replaced the lines, but he said the radiator was "cracked" & was the reason the lines had broken. He said they would replace it, & that i was necessary or the lines would bust again at the cost of $2000 out of my pocket. Afew hours ago when my wife & i Picked the car up i was overjoyed to get behind the wheel & drive, my high hopes were slightly kicked in the ***** while driving home i noticed the car was kinda still kicking as the car shifts down/up gears, & from a dead stop regardless of manual or full auto mode it kicked pretty bad.

I paid to have the transmission lines flushed, so what im worried/wondering about is do you think my transmission suffered damage from this that will be permanent & possibly need to be replaced? or am i just over thinking this & not giving the new transmission fluid enough time to lubricate the gears? We also have a 1500 mile vacation drive planned in a month & i dont wanna drive the car to the beach if it's gonna die there.

Any help/thoughts are much appreciated!

If you ran the car low on transmission fluid for very long odds are your trans is toast. I'd take it back to the dealer and have them drive the car to experience what you are feeling. I'd say you are looking at a total rebuild along with a new torque convertor.

Obviously it's impossible for us to diagnose with any certainty.

However from you description, it is certainly "possible" the trans was damaged during your driving attempts before and enroute to the repair shop. With the fluid line leaking the trans was not getting the fluid pressure it needed to fully engage the clutches which may have led to excessive wear plus it was not getting the cooling it needed leading to more rapid wear.

IMO, you need to get it to a trans specialist ASAP for proper diagnosis. Sorry I can't offer more. Good luck. )

While it is certainly possible that the transmission got damaged, it sounds like it's still low on fluid. When a transmission gets low on fluid it generally just doesn't wanna move. I had a fluid line let go on my way home from the track one Wednesday night but after getting it towed home, fixing the broken line and then topping off the fluid I went racing with it again that weekend.

I would recommend you start by checking the fluid level and then go from there.
