Default Corvette c6 sticky tape covering holes

Hello people who know more about cars than i do, If some one could tell me what this sticky tape stuff is covering 2 holes on the underside of my c6 corvette are... That would be great. One is open because i kinda peeled it back after it was loose, and the other i didn't touch.

It looks like some type of foil heat or sound shielding to me, I noticed that mine was starting to peel back as well.

It's waterproof flashing tape, sold by the roll 50-800 mm width. The tape is 2mm thick. It's a bitumen product faced with aluminum.

My question would be: Why are the holes there?

It's called "peel n seal" at Lowes or Home Depot. About $17 a roll.

Thanks, I'll bet I can get it for $55 a roll at the dealer.

Cheapest material GM could find. Most other cars would have proper rubber grommets. Many cars have similar holes for 'emergency' safety hooks, like when being transported. But that crappy sheetmetal wouldn't hold anything. Maybe they're used for something during production. By the way, it looks like cheap 'Dynamat'. I'm curious to know what they're for too. Hopefully a Corvette expert can answer that without making an answer up .
