I think you can but best bet would be to call MSD and speak with someone on their tech line.

The system you have works on cars at LeMans, so it would not worry about upgrading it.

That being said, I installed Accel coils for all the wrong reasons. My car is yellow, so I added yellow coils and then the car did not run correctly and found out one of my "upgraded" coils was junk.

^^I have used Accel coils in the past on my other car. They failed when it was least expected. Good thing I kept the OEM and trashed the Accel after removal.

MSD coils also never gave me any lucks.

Granted, these coils were not used on the vette. Then again, I don't have faith to use those two brands again.

im not a big fan of accel, msd is well known for there products, as for wires, Taylor is the number one choice, as i had many problems in the past with msd wires, not once with taylor. i suppose a good set of plugs wires will do for now.

I have Taylor wires as well. I have a spare Accel coil as spare because one will fail when it is least expected....

Msd would be better. I can understand going with accel because of color. Is your car yellow?

MSD does have some good products but their coil is the exception. I will not use their coils even if they are free.

I have MSD ignition box and distributor on my other car. Very reliable.

I also buy their plug wire in bulk as I usually make my own plug wires as needed for my motorsport toys.

YMMV.

can you really hook up an MSD box?
i didn't think so with this type of ignition system
i'd like info if you find any
last talk with an MSD rep was no, that's built into their coils
which.... proceed with caution if you do
I tried em, had that typical erratic idle issue that MANY complain about
glad i got my $$ back from them

I also had an issue with MSD distributor on her TPI bird
SLOWED, and i mean SLOWED the car down, as others had the same issue, put the OEM dist in and wallah... back up and more responsive, just as others have reported too

BTW...
i am an absolute MSD nut too
works GREAT on older cars
newer stuff... it's one of those things you can pass on as OEM stuff is pretty stout and hardcore already.... not to mention RELIABLE

granatelli makes coils too, never seen any feedback on them
and this was the first feedback i've seen on Accel
i also love Accel coils too, that good ole 50k yeller coil.... that used to EAT wires alive (if you used cheap plug wires)

Did you know lots of hardcore racers over at AutoX/Roadracing Section had lots of problems with Pfadt Sway bars? Got one thread going on right now in that Section - doesn't look good!

Spoke with a MSD rep this weekend at Goodguys Columbus about this exact topic and they said its a no go with the aftermarket box to a C6 corvette because it would have to be an 8 channel box and that it would price most people out of the market.
