Zo6 lifter failure
I've got a 2007 zo6 . I've read alot of posts about lifter failure. I have one lifter that failed. Cam looks ok. But all the bearing are out of the roller. What would you do . ( yes i am replacing all 16 lifters) would the bearigs fall staight to the pan ?

Lifter or rocker? Bearings don't typically fall out of the lifter.
If a lifter did fail, I would replace the cam. There is probably cam damage. If it is just a rocker then just replace them with new ones and move on.

and the bearings fell out? wow ive never seen that
was the rocker tight? maybe it was loose and this caused a bit of hammering on the lifter
is the wheel still there?
if i were you id just do whatever you need to get all the parts out and put in a new one (or set if you desire)

yea just check that cam and get out any debris and check what comes out. and make sure it all came from the lifter and nothing else
just see this as an opportunity for 'the cam youve always wanted' haha

If the roller broke then then the cam is damaged.
Fairly common in all LS. Trucks have it happen, my motor at 18k miles had a lifter break. Friends car just had one break 2 weeks ago.

Sorry for the slight hijack but how do you typically know when there is a lifter/rocker failure? Is there a oh **** moment aka car shuts down, ticking noise, bad performance? I'm new to the LS and even newer to my c6.

you'll feel a vibration like a misfire would give. most notably at an idle. depending on where the parts that broke apart and fell into the engine could give you many different types of issues, some worse than others.

Now you can say you've seen it.
OP you're going to be replacing the cam and all lifters, & flushing the oil system thoroughly.
DO NOT try to force that lifter up through the hole if it doesn't slide right out. Just pull the cam and let lifter drop out the bottom.
More damage has been done to lifter bores from people trying to get them out the top

On my Z the dealer did it under warranty. Heads were pulled, entire rack was removed,as well as coolers and radiator.
So yes if you do all that you can get the cam out.
I'm doing a motor for a fellow club member and we dropped the motor out and are going thru the whole thing.
