Default Ownership: 3LT GS vs 3LT Coupe

What is the cost comparison, not the purchase price, between owning/maintaining a 3LT Grand Sport Coupe and a 3LT 'Base' Coupe with LS3?

The only thing that comes to mind is tires.

Search the price of the base Corvette tires vs the GS/Z06 tires.

Oh, and the cost to do an oil change if you have a GS coupe with MT 6.

Yep, just the cost of the tires, plus the extra 3 or 4 quarts of oil for the dry sump if you choose a manual. I'm almost sure both auto and manual have the same differential cooler, so no difference there. I'd at least change the diff fluid to get all the crap out of there; mine was filthy with only 2K miles. Also changed the tranny since it's not synthetic (not even a blend). After that, you should be good to go for a while. Good luck with your choice.

Let me just go ahead and answer your real question...get the GS, it's worth it.

Like others have said, tires would be more expensive on the GS and if you do get the M6, the oil changes will also cost more because of the dry sump.

Does it cost more to buy a GS? YES
Does it cost more to own a GS? YES

Is it worth it? HELL YES

Someone pointed out that a GS owner could end up spending more money per mile on tires than on gasoline.

Hopefully, a proper alignment and good replacement tires (~$2,200) will reduce that.

We had the choice of a base coupe or a GS, price was not an issue and we chose the base because it's the better car for how we use it. Other people may have different, perhaps very different, desires.

I test drove a 2011 Black 3LT Grand Sport Coupe today with an M6 and NPP. It drove down the highway just the same as my 2006 Black 3LT Coupe with an A6. But boy did it sound better and I love the look of those gills that I used to hate. It had stock looking exhaust manifolds and stock NPP mufflers, but the sound was a lot deeper and when the Exhaust opened up merging onto the interstate you could actually feel the difference. The car literally lurched forward. I think I am in love!
